MARY ALICE RANKIN BRAGG

Brewton

Mary Alice Rankin Bragg, 67, departed this life on July 7, 2014, in Huntsville Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Sat., July 12, at 11 a.m., at the Christ Kingdom Ministries Center in Brewton, Elder Hermon Bradley, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Straughn officiating. Interment followed in the Greater Pine Church Cemetery in Brewton. Arrangements were handled by Presley-Fluker Funeral Home.

She was born in Brewton on June 18, 1946, to the union of the late Cap “Jack” Rankin and Ellen Hall Rankin. She was the youngest of four children.

She was educated in Conecuh County School System and graduated in 1967.

She accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Evergreen until she reached adulthood. After she moved to Brewton, she became a faithful member of the Greater Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active in various church activities and a faithful member of the choir for more than 40 years.

She was employed in the food service department at D.W. McMillan Hospital for more than 35 years before her retirement in 2009.

She was a sincere and caring woman. She consistently lived a life of service and sacrifice for others. She never met a stranger and was always willing to help those in need. She was a faithful sister, friend and mother. She was beloved by many friends, church family members, neighbors and former co-workers.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Jaine Mary Anderson; faithful son-in-law, Lamar Anderson; two grandchildren, Josiah Lamar Anderson and Kassidy An’Marie Anderson, all of Huntsville; sisters, Edritch Hammonds of Evergreen and Dorothy Jackson of Brewton; a brother, Jack (Wanda) Rankin of Brewton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends, awesome neighbors and a loving church family.

 

MARY ELIZABETH STOCK

Ocean Springs, Miss.

Mary Elizabeth Stock, 69, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died on July 9, 2014, at her home.

Funeral services were held on July 13, at Bermuda Community Center, at 2:30 p.m., with Cope Funeral Home of Evergreen in charge of arrangements.

She was part of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 50 and a member of the Daughters of Nial.

She is survived by her husband, William James Stock St. of Ocean Springs, Miss.; son, William James Stock Jr. of Acushnet, Mass.; and brothers, John (Hilda) Brantley Jr.  of Brewton and P. Lee (Paula) Brantley of Milton, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Home John Brantley and Eloise Wiggins Brantley.

 

GLENDA ODEAN SCHULTE

Brewton

Glenda Odean Schulte, 68, passed away on Mon., July 14, 2014, in the Brewton hospital.

She was born in Waco, Texas, and had been a resident of Brewton for the past 20 years.  During her working years, she was a security guard at Container Corp., and was a member of East Brewton Assembly of God.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Lewis, and a granddaughter, Olivia Thompson.

She is survived by a son, Billy (Beth) Thompson of Salem, Ohio; four daughters, Stephanie (Steve) Mancil of Brewton, Candy (Mark) Hill of Lake Jackson, Texas, Lisa (Robert) Hobbs of Freeport, Texas, and Renee Phillips of East Brewton; one brother, David Lewis of Santa Fe, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Molly Jameson of Santa Fe, Texas, and Margaret Bostick of Athens, Texas.

ROLAND GERALD REAVES

Jay, Fla.

Roland Gerald Reaves, 75, of Marvin Reaves Road, Jay, Fla., passed away Sat., July 12, 2014, at his daughter’s residence.

Funeral services will be held on Thurs., July 17, at 11 a.m., at the Friendship Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Rusty Burnham officiating and interment following in Concord Cemetery in Jay, Fla. Visitation will be held tonight from 6-9 at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.

He was a native and life long resident of Jay, Fla. He was a member and active trustee of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church, a 1957 graduate of Jay High School, a former employee of St. Regis Paper Company and a retired consultant for Plastic Coated Papers.

He is survived by his daughter, Mandy (Keith) Megginson of Flomaton; two grandchildren, Spinks Megginson and Grant Megginson, both of Brewton; niece, Tracee Driver; great niece, Camille Driver; and aunts, Mavis Reaves and Gene Pospiech, all of Jay, Fla.

BUFORD WILEY DANIELS

Brewton

Bufford Wiley Daniels, 63, of Tippens Eddy Road, Brewton, passed away Saturday morning, July 12, 2014, in Frisco City, after a sudden illness. 

Funeral services were held on Mon., July 14, at 11 a.m., at Cravers Funeral Home. Interment followed in Hanberry Cemetery with Craver’s Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Visitation for Mr. Daniels will be Monday July 14, 2014 from 10 until 11am service time at Craver’s Funeral Home Inc,.
He was a native and life-long resident of Brewton and was a labor foreman with Southland Energy Corporation. He attended the Appleton Free Will Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florrie Ann Hall Daniels of Brewton; brother; Charles Russell Daniels of Brewton; sister; Charlene (Jerry) Arrant of Pollard; niece; Sherry Maxwell of Pollard; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bufford Wiley Daniels Jr.

ELEANOR MAE BOOK

Brewton

Eleanor Mae Booker, 91, of Douglas Avenue, Brewton, passed away Wednesday night, July 9, 2014, in a local nursing facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services began with visitation on Sat., July 12, at 10 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton, followed by an 11 a.m. ceremony. Interment followed in the Union Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

She was a native and former resident of McKenzie, before moving to Brewton in 1941. She was a member of the Brewton Community of Christ Church, a member of RSVP, a past member of the Brewton Kiwanis Club, and a retired accounting clerk from T.R. Miller Mill Company with 41 years of service.

She is survived by her best friend, Verna Herdman of Brewton, and three nieces, Ramona Johnson, Elma Jean Chapman and Diane Sosobee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer L. and Florence Parker Booker, and two sisters, Merlie Booker, Myra Sharpe.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked donations be made to The Escambia County Humane Society, 27330 Hwy. 31 Flomaton, AL 36441.

REBECCA ‘BECKY’ ANNETTE SPENSER

Rebecca “Becky” Annette Spencer, 67, of Travis Road, Brewton, passed away early Monday morning, July 7, 2014, in a local hospital after a brief illness.

Graveside services were held on Mon., July 14, at the Blair Cemetery with Speaker Blake Anthony officiating. Interment followed in Blair Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was a native of Mobile; a former resident of Jackson, Miss., and a long time resident of Brewton. She was of the Full Gospel faith and a homemaker.

She is survived by her two sisters, Gayle Anthony and Mary Merritt, both of Brewton; son, David Autrey of Fayetteville, S.C.; two daughters, Louise Mott of Hawaii and Jerrie Mae Autrey of Prattville; two grandchildren; special niece, Angie Anthony; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
