Flea market opens; vendors needed

Popular shows like Junk Gypsies and American Pickers show the nation’s fasciation with finding a good deal and turning “trash into treasure.”
Now locals have a new place to add to their shopping list – Grammy’s. Located on Hwy. 31, the flea market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Vendor spots are available inside the air-conditioned building.
On Saturday, the wares were plenty and so were the shoppers.
Debra Butts is one of many vendors inside the store. Her booths feature everything from purses and sunglasses to furniture.
“We try to keep the vendor cost down, which keeps the shopper’s price down,” Butts said of the $20 vendor fee. “The best thing about this place is, when you have a yard sale, you have to pack it up once you’re done.
“Not here,” she said. “You can leave it from one weekend to the next.”
The building opened in late April, and if demand warrants, there are plans to open for business on Friday’s as well.
“That would be great,” Butts said. “We’d love it if there were that many customers.”
