TRM varsity volleball suffers first loss while JV improves to 2-0

T.R. Miller’s varsity volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season Thursday at Monroe County while the JV team remained undefeated.
The varsity Lady Tigers fell to 3-1 overall as they suffered a 3-1 loss to Monroe County. The JV team improved to 2-0 as they defeated Monroe County 2-0.
In the JV game, T.R. Miller won set one 23-19 and won set two 25-9 to take the match.
Myra Reiss led with seven service points in set one and Mary Madison Brown had four.
In set two, Reiss led with nine service points and Allie Nelson had seven.
In varsity action, T.R. Miller won set one 26-24, but lost the next three to lose the match.
The Lady Tigers lost set two 25-20, set three 25-15, and set four 25-14.
In set one for T.R. Miller, Amelia Peach had five service points and two kills while Grace Ruzic and Taylor Austin had two points each.
In set two, Caitlyn Smith and Brittany Warren both had three service points each.
No individual stats were reported for sets three and four.
“Monroe County is a very athletic team and they handled everything we threw at them,” T.R. Miller head coach Greg White said. “I thought my team played hard, but we just didn’t play very good. We did not serve well and we were pretty bad in serve receive. It was the fourth game of the season so we are not going to panic because we lost a game. We will go back to work and prepare for a big area game Monday against Opp.”
