From staff reports

It was a sweep for the Northview Chiefs over W.S. Neal’s JV and varsity volleyball teams as the JV team fell to 1-2 overall with a 2-0 loss and the varsity fell to 1-5 overall with a 3-2 loss.
In JV action, W.S. Neal lost 25-13 and 25-20.
“The JV started off a little slow, but really stepped up in the second set,” W.S. Neal head coach Jason Blaney said. “I know it was a loss, but the fight they showed is a great sign for things to come with this young group of girls.”
In varsity action, W.S. Neal lost set one 25-15; won set two 25-6 and set three 25-23 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
In set four, the Lady Eagles lost 25-15 before falling in set five 15-12 to lose the match.
Jodi Busby finished with three aces and eight service winners along with five kills in the loss. Karissa Johnson added five aces, 10 service winners and two kills while Dinah Samuel chipped in 10 aces, 18 service winners and seven kills.
Haleigh Dubose had three service winners and five kills for the Lady Eagles in the loss while Madison Winchester had five service winners.
“It was a very good match and great job by Northview and their coaching staff,” Blaney said. “We have a lot of fight in us, we just have to get over that little speed bump of not letting up and learn to finish off teams when we are ahead. We will just keep working hard and it will all come together for us.”
