Flomaton car thief who set vehicle on fire captured

Thanks to the public’s help, the Flomaton man wanted for stealing a car and then setting it on fire is in police custody.

Flomaton Police Chief Brian Davis said  Dale Carnley, 32, was arrested and taken into custody after being discharged from a hospital in Monroeville at approximately 7:20 a.m. Thursday morning..
“Mr. Carnley will be later transported to the Escambia County Jail in Brewton,” he said. “ I would like to thank the Monroeville Police Department for there assistance in apprehending Carnley, as well (local media outlets) for getting this story and Carnley’s photo up so quick on your Facebook and web pages. I am sure that one on these ways is how this individual was recognized and captured. “

Wednesday night, Davis said Carnley was one of two different suspects who stole a vehicle in Florida Tuesday and brought the vehicle back to Flomaton and set it on fire. Also charged was Shawn Earl Barrows, who is currently being held in the Escambia County Jail in Florida on related vehicle theft charges.

A third suspect, Christopher Vanhoosen, was arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy to commit criminal mischief I in connection with the incident, Davis said.

Carnley is charged with receiving stolen property I and criminal mischief I.
