UMS-Wright to play at WSN Friday

Coming off an open week this past Friday, the W.S. Neal football team will be back in region play this week when they host the UMS-Wright Bulldogs.
UMS-Wright enters the game 30-0 after defeating Clarke County 31-6 Friday. WSN lost to Clarke County 24-0 in their most recent game.
WSN and UMS-Wright have played 11 times with the Bulldogs owning a 7-4 record against the Eagles.
The last time the two teams met was in 2011 when UMS-Wright won 37-6.
Neal Head Coach Doug Hoehn said that UMS-Wright is a very good football team with a very good running back in Troy Dixon.
“They have an exceptional running back in Dixon (No. 1),” Hoehn said. “We have been watching him on film and had the chance to see him in person my first year here. He was a freshman then and was good then, but he has vastly improved. He is going to be the best running back that we have faced this year. It is going to be a tough job containing him, and nobody has been able to do that yet this year. So, we are going to have our work cut out for us to help limit his production.”
Hoehn spoke highly of other positions for the Bulldogs of Mobile.
“Their offensive line does a really good job,” he said. “Defensively they run to the ball very well. They are solid on special teams and they have a very good kicker. He can hurt you on field position.
“They (were) ranked No. 2 last week,” he said. “I don’t know if they are going to move up this week, but they are a very good football team. It will be a big challenge for us.”
Hoehn said last week’s bye may prove an advantage for the Eagles.
“It gives us a chance to prepare more,” he said. “I would think that would always be a plus.
“We don’t have anyone injured, so that was nice also,” he said. “We got to prepare in practice and not really have to let kids heal on the off week. So that is always a good thing.”
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at W.S. Neal Stadium in East Brewton.
