All three T.R. Miller volleyball teams came away with sweeps of Flomaton Monday at home on pink night.
The BMS Lady Tigers defeated Flomaton 2-0 (25-15 and 25-12) while the JV won 2-0 (25-4 and 25-12).
In varsity action, TRM won 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, and 25-20) to finish off the sweeps of the Lady Hurricanes.
With the wins, BMS improved to 8-1, the JV team to 10-2 and the varsity team to 10-1 this season. No stats were known from the middle school game.
In JV action, Allie Nelson led in set one with 11 service points and five aces. Myra Reiss added seven service points and three aces while Katelin Salter had four service points.
In set two, Mary Madison Brown had six service points while Nelson, Payton Baxter and Bethany McDonald all had three service points each.
In varsity action, Lizzy Pollitte had three service points in set one while Amelia Peach had four and five kills. Madison Douglas finished with five digs.
In set two, Brittany Warren had six service points and four kills while Pollitte had five. Taylor Austin had three kills while Grace Ruzic had six assists.
In the third and final set, Warren had four service points and two kills while Steely Ruzic had two service points and six digs. Caitlyn Smith added six assists while MyKayla Harrison had four kills and three blocks.
TRM head coach Greg White offered thanks to all those who wore pink to the game for breast cancer awareness and said his varsity team played a pretty solid game.
“First of all I want to thank everyone who came to the games with their pink on,” White said. “We’ve done the pink games for several years now and our fans really support us. The money we raised will go to the TRM Relay for Life team. In the game, I think the varsity played a pretty solid game.”
White said Flomaton is a well-coached team and to be able to beat them 3-0 is a big deal. “I thought we did a good job on the net,” White said. “We hit the ball a lot and put constant pressure on their defense. We have got to improve on our serve receive and communicate better during games but we still have several games to play before the area tournament. Hopefully we can have those things worked out by then.”
