Jeremy Thomas Creamer, 20, of Cypress Creek, Texas, passed away on Sept. 10, 2014, in Houston.
Graveside services will be held on Fri., Oct. 10, at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m., with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.

Daniel Ray Whitehead
Summerdale

Daniel Ray Whitehead, 67, of Brook Hollow Road Summerdale, passed away Saturday night Oct. 4, 2014, in a Daphne medical facility after a brief illness.
He was a native of and long time resident of Russellville where he attended Russellville High School. He was a former resident of Pascagoula, Miss., before moving to Brewton in 1973 where he managed Lorch’s Jewelry for 15 years before moving to Summerdale 15 years ago. He was of the Baptist Faith, a U.S. Airforce veteran with four years of service, and he retired from Goodrich Aerospace.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janice Sanders White of Summerdale; one son, Mike (Amy) of Fairhope; one daughter-in-law, Elisha McGhee Whitehead of Brewton; one sister, Shirley (Bud) Coan of Leighton; two grandchildren, Taylor and Nick; and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Whitehead; a brother, Billy Whitehead; and parents, William Gresham and Claudia Shelton Whitehead.
Funeral services were held on Tues., Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. William Rayfield and the Rev. William Joyner officiating. Interment followed in Weaver Cemetery in Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

Valerie Elizabeth
Powell

Brewton

Valerie Elizabeth Powell was born April 5, 1969, to Pamela Powell in Brewton, Alabama.
She started her education at Rottschafer’s Daycare Center and Brewton City Schools. She was a 1988 graduate of T.R. Miller High School. After graduation she attended Jefferson Davis Community College where she was pursuing a degree in early childhood education.
She moved to Frankfort, Ky., and was employed with Contact Rest Care. After returning to Brewton, she was employed with Volunteers of America serving as a district support professional – her job where she loved and cared for the people she served.
She was an active member of Greater Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a youth coordinator and vice president of the Missionary Society. She served faithfully until her health failed.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted mother, Pamela Powell; her children, Saporcha Reonte’ Powell, Deonte’ Javon Powell and Jacorey Kentrae Powell (Brittany) who she raised as her own son, all of Brewton; three grandchildren and the joys of her life, Sophie Brielle Quick, Kalea Chanel Powell and Karmelo Powell; two sisters, Melanie Johnson (Shawn) and Taneshia Powell (Raphael), both of Marietta, Ga.; one brother, Larry J. Powell of Frankfort, Ky.; six nephews; four nieces; several uncles and aunts including one special uncle, Adam Clayton Powell; two special moms, Glennie N. Culliver and Gwendolyn Middleton; numerous cousins and special friends, including Mrs. Rosa Williams, Mrs. Belinda McMillan, Cynthia Brazile, Rhonda Nicholson, Tammie Nolan, Jacqueline Campbell, Cynthia Madison Fantroy and Angela Binion Ware.
Services were held Thurs., Oct. 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Brewton with the Rev. Eric Andrews, pastor, and the Rev. Robert Straughn officiating.
Interment followed at Greater Pine Grove Cemetery in Brewton.

Lucy Brooks Howard
Flomaton

Lucy Brooks Howard was born to the late Ben Salter Sr. and Minnie Lee Salter on June 6, 1942, in Flomaton.
She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 29, 2014, while at her resident surrounded by her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Howard; her parents; her brother, Ben Salter Jr., and a granddaughter, Antonique L. Straughn.
She attended Pollard Junior High School and became a graduate of Southern Normal School. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church.
She loved her family and made lifelong sacrifices for them. She worked many years in the dietary industry. Her love for her family was never ending.
She leaves to cherish her memories, six children, Clemente Brooks, Vanessa (Aubrey) Washington, both of Flomaton, Willie (Rhonda) Brooks Jr. of Canton, Ga., Arthur Brooks III, Sonja (Anthony) Straughn and Rita (Timmy) Kyles, all of Flomaton; one brother, Michael (Mary) Salter of Reddick, Fla.; three sisters, Ida (Henry) Guice of Apple Springs, Texas, Mamie (Alton) Watts of Atmore and Vivian Salter (Bobby Ware) of Flomaton; 21 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three god-children, Zelma (Albert) Arndell, Ty Lett and Quinton Odom; two aunts, Ruby Jean Dixon and Sophronia Quinley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held on Sat., Oct. 4, at 11 a.m., at Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in Flomaton with Pastor Henry Hawkins officiating. Burial followed in the Fanny/Damascus Cemetery in Flomaton.

Susan Kay Graves
Brewton

Susan Kay Graves, 57, passed away on Fri., Oct. 3, 2014, at her home in Brewton, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born at Travis AFB in Fairfield, Calif.
She graduated as valedictorian of her class from Flomaton High School and from Auburn University with a degree in physics.
She began her professional career in Panama City, Fla., working for the Civil Service at (NCSC) Naval Coastal System Center as an electronics engineer. Her career afforded her the opportunity to develop SOX lighting for 16 classes of Navy ships, study at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, Calif., and work as a systems analyst at the Pentagon in Washington D.C.
After retiring from the Civil Service, she dedicated her time and talents to her spiritual life and community, and became an ordained minister, working, teaching and growing with her Unity Church family of Panama City, Fla.
She returned to Brewton in 1999, re-opening the convenience store her father and mother, Sam and Clara, had opened in 1965. The hope was that Susan’s Pantry would restore some of the convenience and community spirit the country grocery had once provided by serving the communities of Foshee, Pineview, Hammac and Wildfork Road.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Sanford and Clara Graves.
Survivors include her life partner, Janet Beall of Brewton; brothers, Sanford Graves Jr. of California; William (Agnes) Graves of Texas; sister, Rebecca (Tommy) Blackmon of Auburn; and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tues., Oct. 7, 2014, at 5 p.m., at the St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Brewton, with the Rev. Rob Dixon officiating.

Warren P. Percle
Chackbay, La.

Warren P. Percle, 91, was born on Nov. 27, 1922, and passed away on Oct. 2, 2014. He was a native and resident of Chackbay, La.
Visitations were held on Sun., Oct. 5, at Thibodaux Funeral Home and on Mon., Oct. 6, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chackbay from 8 a.m. until funeral time. A mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m. with burial following in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Enola Robinson Percle; children, Jean Percle Ockman, Priscilla Percle Breaux and husband, Francis, Eric Percle and wife Karen Studdard Percle, Gary Percle, Terry Percle, Lisa Percle Amedee and husband Carl, Teela Percle Falgoust and husband, Timothy, and Rachel Percle Boudreaux; brothers, Colly Percle and Joseph (Caffery) Percle; 17 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren; six step-grea- grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orphe and Corrine Nicholas Percle; son, Dale Percle; grandson, Jeremy Percle; siblings, Edward Percle, Milda P. Landry Schaubhut, Pelma Percle Shano, and step-sister, Lillian Kraemer Legendre.
He was married to the love of his life for 67 years, Enola Robinson Percle, who he loved and adored and showed concerned for, even after dementia took hold of his mind. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who always placed his family first. He loved his vegetable gardens and planting flowers and enjoyed cooking large meals for his family. He was a WWII Veteran and retired from Avondale Shipyards after 33 years.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family would like to thank Home Health Care of Thibodaux Regional, STAT Home Health and Haydel Hospice for the wonderful care given to their loved one. Special thanks also goes to Nathaniel Ward, his aide who bathed him daily.
