While the W.S. Neal Eagle football team will be coming into their game Friday with a two-game winning streak, opponent Thomasville will enter the game on a two-game losing streak.
Thomasville fell to 5-2 overall and to 3-1 in region play after losing to UMS-Wright Friday by a score of 31-13. The week before, Thomasville lost to Saraland 49-14.
Thomasville is 9-3 overall against W.S. Neal after winning the last meeting 42-8 over the Eagles in 2011.
W.S. Neal head coach Doug Hoehn said Thomasville is a solid football team that is very good on the offensive and defensive lines.
“They have good size on their lines and they are a physical football team that likes to play physical football,” Hoehn said. “Their nose guard (No. 11, Christopher King) is a very good football player and (inside linebacker, No. 5, Zaccheus Woodard) is good as well.”
Hoehn named other players for Thomasville that sticks out to him.
“(No. 10, wide receiver) Dana Lockhart is a good player and they have several running backs that run the ball well. Their quarterback (No. 2, Chadwick Bryant) runs and throws the ball well for them.”
Hoehn said Thomasville’s schedule has been tough for them this year.
“They beat Demopolis,” Hoehn said. “They have played Saraland and lost last week to UMS, who is a very good team. We are going to have to really play well. We need to take care of the ball, line up right, and limit our penalties. They have a lot of depth and play a lot of kids on both sides of the ball.”
Other players Hoehn noted for Thomasville were: No. 1, Jackson Sammuel (wide receiver) and No. 6, Bryan Hosea (running back).
Game time is set for 7 p.m. in East Brewton.
