T.R. Miller’s JV volleyball team ended their season with a win Thursday night at home and the varsity Lady Tigers avenged an earlier loss to Monroe County to come away with a win.
The JV Lady Tigers finished their season with a 14-3 record as they downed Monroe County 2-0. TRM won 25-14 and 25-23. In varsity action, TRM won 3-0 over Monroe County (27-25, 25-15, and 27-25) to improve to 16-4 this season.
TRM head coach Greg White said his team really played Thursday night and handled things better Thursday against Monroe County than they did the first time they met and also better than they did in Tuesday’s loss at Jay.
“We had a rough night at Jay Tuesday night,” White said. “We worked on some things Wednesday in practice and sort of changed our mindset a little bit. We came in tonight’s game just wanting to change our mind. We went after them from the start. They killed us with some things last time we played them and we made some adjustments tonight and handled it pretty well. Overall, we just played harder than the last time we played them and than we did Tuesday night at Jay. I was really proud of that. We had a great practice Wednesday. We could have tanked after Tuesday and pouted, but we came out really played well.”
In JV action Thursday, Anna Kate Brittain and Mary Madison Brown led in set one’s win.
Brittain finished with six service points, two aces, and one kill while Brown added four service points and two kills. Anna Grace White had one kill and two service points with one being an ace.
In set two, Brown had three service points, Alexis King had four points with one ace and one kill.
White had four service points in the win.
In varsity action, TRM trailed 23-20 in set one, but rallied for a 27-25 win.
Mykayla Harrison had five kills while Brittany Warren had four service points, one ace, and three kills.
Amelia Peach added five kills in the win while Taylor Austin had seven service points.
In set two, Warren led with 12 service points, one ace and one kill.
Peach added three kills and one service points while Harrison had three blocks and four kills.
In set three, TRM trailed 20-16, but rallied for the 27-25 win.
Harrison had two blocks and two kills while Peach had seven service points and two aces. Caitlyn Smith had four service points with two being aces. Warren had three kills and one service point.
