Examining the playoff brackets: Regions and seeding

As we all know, last week was the end of the road for the T.R. Miller Tigers and the W.S. Neal Eagles as far as the 2014 football playoffs go.
In the county, we still have Flomaton playing this week in the quarterfinal round against region foe Washington County and Escambia Academy will play Bessemer Academy Friday in Troy for the state championship.
This morning I pulled out the brackets and decided to do a little research.
In the AHSAA, there are 52 teams still playing. In classes 1A-6A, we have eight teams left in each class for a total of 48 teams. In the new class 7A, there are four teams left. The class 7A playoffs are in the semifinals this week. Winners from this week will be off next week before playing their state championship game on Wed., Dec. 3 in Auburn.

Seeds
As far as region’s seeds (1-4), of the 52 teams left playing, there were 30 No. 1 seeds left. No. 2 seeds left saw eight teams left followed by 10 No. 3 seeds left and four No. 4 seeds left.

Class 1A:

No. 2 seeds- 2
No. 3 seeds- 2

Regions
I looked at each classification (1A-7A, with 7A only have four regions instead of 1A-6A’s eight) and found that there are 10 region 1 teams left in the playoffs followed by six from region 2; seven from region 3; five from region 4; seven from regions 5 and 6; four from region 7; and six from region 8.
In class 1A, region 3 and region 6 led with two teams left in the playoffs. Regions 2, 4, 5, and 7 all had one team left.
In class 2A, regions 1 and 5 led with two teams left in the playoffs. Regions 2, 3, 6, and 7 both followed with one team left.
In class 3A, regions 6 and 8 both led with two teams still left in the playoffs. Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 all had one team each left.
As for TRM’s region (region 1) only Opp was still left playing.
In class 4A, region 5 led with three teams still playing. Region 1, 2, and 8 all had one team left while region 3 had two teams left.
As for WSN’s region (region 1) only UMS-Wright was still left playing.
In class 5A, region 1 led with three teams still playing. Region 7 had two teams left while regions 2, 5, and 8 all had one each.
In class 6A, regions 1, 4, 6, and 8 all had two teams left to lead.
In class 7A, each region (1-4) had one team left playing in their semifinal round.
