BMS girls basketball wins in OT to remain undefeated; boys lose by one

In their final road game of the season Thursday in Andalusia, the Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers basketball pulled out a 21-20 win in overtime to remain undefeated as they moved to 6-0 this season.
In the boy’s game, BMS lost 27-26 to fall to 2-4 overall.
In the girl’s game, Brewton led 2-0 after one quarter, but fell behind 7-6 at the half after Andalusia outscored BMS 7-4 in the second quarter.
Down one at the half, both Brewton and Andalusia scored seven points each in the third quarter to see Andalusia hold a 14-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Brewton held a 4-3 advantage to tie the game up at 17-all to force overtime.
In the extra period, BMS outscored Andalusia 4-3 to get the win by one point.
Aleria Smith and Jaznasia Nettles both led with six points each while Averie Johnson had four points. Jordan McCreary and Ravion Ewing both scored two points each while Asia Campbell had one in the overtime win.
In the boy’s game, Brewton trailed Andalusia 8-6 after one quarter and 16-13 at the half after being outscored 8-7 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, BMS roared back with an 11-3 advantage to build a 24-19 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Andalusia’s Bulldog bark was louder than the Tigers’ roar as they ended the game on an 8-2 run to get the win by one point.
Jaylin Dees led with 12 points in the loss while Toby Jenkins had six points. Kedarrius Jenkins, Cody Hall, Daniel Samuel and Jamal Duggans all had two points each in the loss.
