WSNMS basketball splits at McCall Thursday

In their fifth game of the season Thursday at McCall, the W.S. Neal Middle School Lady Eagles fell to 0-5 while the boys won to move to 3-2 this season.
In girl’s action, WSNMS lost 18-12 while the boys won 40-16.
In the girl’s game, both teams scored two points each in the first quarter before McCall used a 5-0 advantage in the second quarter to hold a 7-2 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, McCall outscored WSNMS 8-6 to hold a 15-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Lady Eagles outscored McCall 4-3, but took the loss by six points.
Alyssa Askew led WSNMS with four points while Tori Gilliam, Aaliyah Askew and Raven Woods all had two points each in the loss.
Camille Smith and Tatum Reeves both chipped in one point each.
In the boy’s game, WSNMS opened up the first quarter on an 11-3 run and led 16-7 at the halftime break.
In third quarter, WSNMS held a 16-9 advantage to grab a 32-16 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, WSNMS held McCall scoreless while pouring in eight of their own to get the 24-point win.
Jordan Hails and Taylor Fountain both scored in double figures in the win as Hails led with 15 points and Fountain had 10.
Dylan Ingram added five points and Mateo Smith had three. Matthew Thomas, Noah Hill and Aquarius Taylor all had two points each while Latarence McCants had one in the win.
