Flomaton

Bertha Louise Crutchfield, 85, of Flomaton, passed away on Fri., Dec. 26, 2014, at Century Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Crutchfield was a native of Escambia County, Fla. and a lifetime resident of the Flomaton Community.
She worked as a seamstress with Vanity Fair Mills and the Escambia County Alabama School System as a school bus driver.
She was a member of Lambeth Holiness Church and was preceded in death by her husbands, Cleveland Moye and Jack Crutchfield.
She is survived by her stepson, Randy Crutchfield of Pensacola, Fla.; daughters, Judy (Mike) Boutwell and Anita (Earl) Bradley, all of Flomaton; sister, DeVera Moye of Brewton; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Sun., Dec. 28, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Bro. Andy Boutwell officiating.
Interment followed in Traveler’s Rest Cemetery in Flomaton.
Pallbearers were Michael Boutwell, Douglas Boutwell, Dusty Boutwell, Trey Boutwell, Shon Haveard, and Luke Mitchell.

Myrtice P. Dilk
Brewton

Myrtice P. Dilk, 91, of Brewton, passed away Thurs., Dec. 25, 2014, in a Century, Fla., nursing facility.
She was born in Roberts and lived in the Brewton area most of her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brewton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Dilk.
She is survived by a son, Steve (Debbie) Morris of Brewton; two daughters, Diane Mark of Phoenix, Ariz., and Debora (Harold) Johnson of Castleberry; a sister-in-law, Doreen Nall of Milton, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 29, at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. John Finklea officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Billy, Gary Robinson, Jimmy Adkisson, Gary Cave, Gary Davis, and Willie Joe Holmes.

Douglas Ray Holt
Flomaton

Douglas Ray Holt, 79, passed away on Fri., Dec. 26, 2014, in Pensacola, Fla..
He was a native and life long resident of Flomaton and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from Armstrong after 35 years of service.
He was a lifelong member of the Little Escambia Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Francis Brown; his parents, Joel and Edna Holt; and brother, Donald Holt.
Survivors include his son, Mike (Lisa) Holt of Flomaton; sister, Linda H. White of Flomaton; and grandchild Lauren C. Holt of Orlando, Fla.
Graveside services were held Sun., Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at the Little Escambia Church Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Hogg officiating.
Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes is in charge of all arrangements.

Brewton

Oland Herbert Gibson, 63, of Appleton Road Brewton, passed away Friday morning, Dec. 26, 2014, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was a native and life long resident of Brewton and East Brewton. He was a 1969 graduate of W.S. Neal High School where he played football and baseball.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and formerly employed in the home construction industry.
He was an avid W.S. Neal and Alabama fan and loved all of his family very much.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Gail Madden Gibson of Brewton; three daughters, Patty White of Brewton, Kim (Greg) White of Brewton, and Pam (Joey) Wyatt of East Brewton; three sisters, Linda Sue (Bobby) Edgar of Castleberry, Kathy (Elton) Madden of Brewton, and Becky (Lamar) Adkisson of Brewton; one brother, Roland (Brenda) Gibson Jr. of East Brewton; six grandchildren, Marissa White, Madison White, Anna Grace White, Adam White, Tori Wyatt and Ashli Wyatt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Gibson Sr. and Katherine Maddox Gibson; and one granddaughter, Morgan White.
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommie Quick.
Interment followed in Martin Family Cemetery on Appleton Road in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home officiating.

Elma Malese Johnson, 94, of Flomaton, passed away on Thurs., Dec. 25, 2014, at her home.
She was a native and lifetime resident of the Flomaton area where she was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow W. Johnson; daughter, Pearl McCurdy; son, Jerry Johnson; and daughter-in-law, Gloria Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Wilson (Mavis) Johnson, Bettie (Clayton) Armstrong of Pace, Fla., Jeanette Johnson, Katherine (Bob) Reid of Byrneville, Fla., Charles (Faye) Johnson, Ronald (Brenda) Johnson and Donald (Linda) Johnson, all of Flomaton; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Mon., Dec. 29, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. with Bro. Michael Johnson and Bro. Paul Armstrong officiating.
Interment followed in Flomaton Cemetery in Flomaton.
Pallbearers were Keith Reid, Heath Johnson, Cory Johnson, Bart Johnson, Travis Johnson, Steven Johnson, DeWayne McCurdy and Steve Turner.

Max Edward Bell
Atlanta

Max Edward Bell, 78, a resident of Atlanta, died Thurs., Dec. 25, 2014.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 27, at Liberty Congregational Church with the Minister Robert Foreman officiating.
Interment followed in Liberty Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mallie and Lula Jones Bell, and sister, Betty Traylor.
He is survived by three children, David (Cheryl) Bell, Debbie (Alan) Arena, and Doug (Sarah) Bell; 10 grandchildren; wife, Nelda Ann Bell; two sisters, Elizabeth Cross and Linda (Jerry) Colquitt; and two brothers, Roger (Pat) Bell and Don (Peggy) Bell.

Violette Isabelle
Montgomery

Flomaton

Violette Isabelle Rosique Montgomery, 87, of Flomaton, passed away on Mon., Dec. 22, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Pollard on Jan. 18, 1927, and grew up in Charleston, S.C., and went to high school at North Charleston High School until the 10th grade.
She graduated at Flomaton High School in 1952 and was a member of the National Beta Club and Honor Society.
She met her husband, Ralph through the Assembly of God Church in Charleston, S.C., and she worked at the Navy Yard in Charleston during WWII. They courted for 11 months and were married on Jan. 18, 1946.
Her mother and step-father moved back to Flomaton shortly before she and Ralph were married, and she moved back with her parents in 1945.
Eight years after her marriage to Ralph, their first child, Veronica was born. Seven years later their son, Clark was born. Violette and Ralph were married 62 years.
During her working years in Flomaton, she worked for 11 years at Western Auto as a bookkeeper and clerk and Barrow’s Furniture for five years. She was a member of Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph, and her brother, John E. Rosique.
She is survived by her daughter, Veronica S. Montgomery of Flomaton, and her son, Clark A. Montgomery of Fairhope.
Visitation was held on Fri., Dec. 26, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Homer Stewart officiating.
Interment followed in Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton.
Pallbearers were David Johnson, Alton Hammac and Pat Carden. Honorary pallbearer was Robert Carden.

Wayne Woods
Brewton

Wayne Woods, 65, of Brewton, passed away Mon., Dec. 8, 2014, in the Brewton hospital.
He was born in Bluefield, W.Va., and had been a resident of Virginia Beach, Va., before moving to the Brewton area three years ago.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, and worked as a drywall mechanic for Dorwin Plastering.
He is survived by his mother, Pansy Mae Woods of Virginia Beach, Va.; his wife, Debbie Sue Mitchell of Brewton; brothers, Donald (Corrina) Woods of Norfolk, Va., Ronnie Woods of Virginia Beach, Va., Jerry (Linda) Woods of Virginia Beach, Va., and Larry (Pam) Woods of Tennessee; sisters, Nancy Woods of Virginia Beach, Va., Connie Shelor of Portsmouth, Va..
A memorial service will be held at a later date with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.
