Those with the John L. Fisher Community Center are looking to “put the pieces together” to create an outstanding program.
Now, they’re looking for public help to do just that by gathering public input at a Thurs., Jan. 15, meeting.
The center offers a number of activities – generally free – to the public including summer camps, family fun nights and holiday meals. The group hopes to expand those services in the future, said Alline Manuel, center volunteer.
“Last year, we had summer activities for children 5-12, back to school activities for children of all ages, a community garden, a playground installed, a Soul Food and Jazz fundraiser, a Bible Bowl, an October fun night for families, a Thanksgiving meal for elderly citizens and some other events,” Manuel said. “This year we want to add more activities and improve existing activities, but we need good ideas, strong volunteers and a detailed plan. With your help we can make it all happen.”
Manuel said she hopes people from all of Brewton join in the planning process.
“All of us have something to share that can make our community stronger,” she said. “With the communities help and other resources, we can deliver innovative solutions for this community. 
“We hope this meeting gives us a better understanding of how the community center will work, and how the community help accomplish these goals,” she said. “The community center aim is to meet the important needs of our community, by showcasing the many different way the community center and the community can work together.”
