TRM basketball teams get area wins in Opp Tuesday

All three of T.R. Miller’s basketball teams traveled to Opp Tuesday and came back with wins to improve their overall records this season.
The B-team Tigers picked up a 34-25 win over the Bobcats for their second win of the season to improve to 2-5 this year.
In varsity girls and boys action, TRM earned wins in their area contests of the season.
The Lady Tigers cruised to a 50-16 win to move to 9-7 overall and to 1-0 in area play. The Tigers of TRM claimed a 52-45 win over Opp to move to 8-5 overall and to 1-0 in area play as well.

TRM B-team 34, Opp 25
Leading by two points, 19-17, heading into the fourth quarter, TRM’s B-team outscored Opp 15-8 in the final quarter to claim a nine-point win over the Bobcats by a score of 34-25.
Michael Campbell led in the win for the Tigers as he poured in 15 points in the win. All Campbell’s points came in the second half, with nine coming in the fourth quarter.
Along with Campbell, Joshua Jolly added eight points and Stokes Jennings had five.
Darius Williams finished with four points and Jeremy Purdie chipped in two points.
Opp led TRM 7-6 after one quarter of play and 15-11 at the half after outscoring the Tigers 8-5 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, TRM held Opp to two points while getting eight of their own to take a 19-17 lead into the fourth. In the fourth, TRM ended the game on a 15-8 run to seal the win.

TRM Lady Tigers 50, Opp 16
TRM’s Lady Tigers used a 16-2 run in the third quarter and had 10 players score points in the game to lead them to a 34-point area win over Opp by a score of 50-16.
TRM jumped on Opp early in the first quarter with a 12-4 lead and then added to it in the second quarter with a 14-6 run to hold a 26-10 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, TRM outscored Opp 16-2 to push their lead to 42-12 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Lady Tigers doubled up the Bobcats 8-4 to get the big win.
Morgan Longmire led with 15 points in the win while Mekiah Williams also scored in double figures with 11.
Steely Ruzic finished with six points while Kyla Bell and Mykayla Harrison both had four points each.
Shae Nicholson, Emonae Curry, Jaden Miller, Jakyra Spears and Shayn Bradley all had two points each.

TRM varsity Tigers 52, Opp 45
Coaching against his former team, TRM head coach Juan Johnson and his varsity Tigers claimed a 52-45 area win over Opp Tuesday night.
After a tight first half, TRM used an 8-0 run to start the third quarter to help propel them to the seven-point win.
TRM led Opp 24-21 after one half of play before outscoring the Bobcats 28-24 in the second half to seal the win.
Opp led TRM 13-12 after one quarter, but TRM outscored Opp 12-8 in the second quarter to grab a 24-21 halftime lead.
In the third quarter, TRM pulled away with a 21-11 run to take a 45-32 lead into the fourth.
In the fourth, Opp closed the gap with a 13-7 run, but TRM took the win by seven points.
Chardian Johnson led TRM with 18 points while Kellyn Winn joined in with 15 points.
