It was a clean sweep for the W.S. Neal basketball teams over the Florala Wildcats Thursday night in East Brewton as all three teams earned wins to improve their records.
The B-team Eagles routed Florala 40-18 to move to 5-7 overall. The win was the second straight for the Eagles of East Brewton.
In girl’s action, the Lady Eagles of WSN used a strong second half and overtime to down Florala 49-46 to move to 5-12 overall this season.
In varsity action, WSN cruised to a 63-24 win to improve their record to 9-8. The win was WSN’s second straight.

WSN B-team 40, Florala 18
Leading 22-9 with 3:25 left in the third quarter, WSN used a 13-0 run in the quarter to propel them to a 40-18 win over Florala.
WSN led Florala 8-2 after one quarter and 17-4 at the half.
In the third quarter, the Eagles used the 13-0 run along with 10 straight points from De’Ron Smith to build a 35-9 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Florala closed the game on a 9-5 run, but the Eagles took the win by 22 points.
Smith was one of nine scorers in the win for the Eagles. Smith led with 12 points while Ricky Samuel added six points. Bryce Booker finished with four points along with Trey English and Joshua McMillan. Tyrese Anderson and Matthew Brown both had three points each. Branden Conway and Ladarius Smith chipped in two points each.
WSN shot 1-for-6 from the free throw line while Florala went 6-for-14.

WSN Lady Eagles 49, Florala 46
Started slowly, but finished strong: That is how WSN Lady Eagles head coach Buddy Powell described his team’s 49-46 overtime win Thursday against Florala.
Down 22-12 at the half, the Lady Eagles caught fire in the second half and outscored Florala 32-22 to tie the game at 44-all and force overtime.
In the overtime period, the Lady Eagles edged out the Lady Wildcats 5-2 to get the win by three points.
“We went to a half-court press in the second half,” Powell said. “That was the difference in the game.”
Another difference was the play of KeKe Floyd. After scoring six points in the first half, Floyd poured in 23 in the second half and overtime period to finish with a total of 29 points. Floyd added 15 rebounds for a double-double and had five assists, four steals and one block.
“KeKe played like an all-star,” Powell said.
Florala led WSN 10-4 after one quarter and 22-12 at the half after holding a 12-8 scoring advantage in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, WSN outscored Florala 16-11 to cut the lead 33-28 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, WSN once again outscored Florala 16-11 to tie the game up at 44-all.
MeMe Lawson finished with seven points for WSN and added three rebounds, three assists and five steals.
Janiya McCants added six points, four rebounds and two steals while Marisha Fraser had four points, five rebounds, and one steal.
Jashira Dees had two points while Anija Stewart had one point and two assists.

WSN varsity 63, Florala 24
WSN’s varsity team scored 26 points in the first quarter, two more than Florala’s total for the game, to aid them in a 63-24 win.
WSN led the Wildcats 26-3 after one quarter and 42-14 at the half following a 16-11 run in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, WSN held an 11-6 win to increase their lead to 53-20 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, WSN ended the game on a 10-4 run to get the 39-point win.
The Eagles had 10 scorers in the win with two scoring in double figures. Tyshawn Davis led with 16 points while DJ Hodges added 11.
Troy Lewis had eight points, JT Gantt had six and Jacolby Hawthorne had five.
Darius Tolbert, Brad Martin and Andre Womack all finished with four points each while Treylon Watson had three and Dalton Shell had two.
Hodges, Tolbert and Womack all led with six rebounds while Watson led with six assists. Hodges finished with four steals to lead in the win while Davis and Tolbert had one block each.
The win gives WSN nine wins this season in 17 games. The Eagles has had only eight total wins combined over the last two seasons, 11 combined in their last three seasons and 15 combined in their last four seasons.
