Work on 15 paving projects started this week across Brewton fulfilling a pledge to improve the infrastructure here, according to Public Works Director Craig Jerkins.
The work is the second round of city streets to see improvements as part of Mayor Yank Lovelace’s paving initiative. Under the plan, three rounds of projects should be completed by later this year funded with local tax revenue. Additional streets will be paved using federal grant funds.
Streets affected in the current phase include North Shore Drive, Scott Street, East Brook Street, Rankin Street, West Underwood Street, Garrett Street, Edgewood Drive, McMillian Avenue, Wilson Street, Peavy Street, Escambia Alley & Bonita Avenue, Bonita Alley, Sylvania Street and James Street.
