Missoula actors needed

It’s time to brush off that magic carpet as the Brewton Council of the Arts hosts the Missoula’s Children’s Theater and a local production of “Aladdin.”
More than 50 parts are available for students of all ages, said BCA president Shea Smith. Auditions will be held on Mon., Feb. 9, at 3:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Davis Community College auditorium.
“Auditioning does not guarantee a role, but there are so many opportunities for students to participate,” Smith said. “Missoula has been coming to Brewton since 2007, and this year’s performance is set to delight.
“Each year, the number of students auditioning grows, and we couldn’t be more excited,” she said. “Kids learn a lot from the actors and directors, and this is an opportunity for children to step outside their box and get their feet wet in theater, art and drama.
“We look forward to a great turnout, a great week and a great production on Saturday,” she said.
Practice will be held each afternoon Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. Those earning a role will be expected to be on time; have a snack or dinner to eat on site during the 5:30 p.m. break and “have your ride pick you on time,” the announcement stated.
Younger children are usually finished by 5:30 p.m.
The performance will be held on Sat., Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. in the JDCC auditorium. Admission is $10 for those age 6 and up and $5 for children ages 4-5. Ages 3 and under are admitted for free.
