TRM sweeps WSN to end regular season

It was a clean sweep for all three T.R. Miller basketball teams over rival W.S. Neal Friday night in Brewton.
All three Tigers teams ended their regular season with wins over the Eagles of East Brewton on senior night.
The B-team Tigers took down WSN 47-27 while the Lady Tigers won by a score of 47-25 over the Lady Eagles.
In varsity action, after splitting their two early meetings in the Escambia County Tournament at TRM and a regular season game at WSN, TRM earned a 62-54 win over the Eagles.
With the wins for TRM’s teams, the B-team Tigers finished their season with a 6-11 record while WSN finished 7-10.
In girl’s action, TRM moved to 16-10 while WSN fell to 8-15. In varsity boy’s action, TRM’s record improved to 15-8 while the Eagles fell to 13-10.

TRM B-team 47, WSN B-team 27
TRM’s B-team used runs of 11-0, 8-0 and 16-0 to claim a 20-point win over WSN Friday night in Brewton by a score of 47-27.
TRM started the game on an 11-0 run and led WSN 15-9 after one quarter. In the second quarter, the Tigers edged out the Eagles 6-5 to take a 21-14 lead into the second half.
In the third quarter, TRM started the quarter on an 8-0 run and ended it on a 7-0 run to claim a 36-20 lead heading into the fourth.
The Tigers continued their run to start the fourth quarter as they increased it to 16-0 to lead 45-20 with 3:21 left in the game.
WSN ended the game on a 7-2 run, but the Tigers claimed the win by 20 points.
Stokes Jennings led TRM with 15 points, including 12 points off four 3-pointers. Marvin Maddox led WSN with seven points.
TRM was 6-for-14 from the free throw line while WSN shot 6-for-9.

TRM Lady Tigers 47, WSN Lady Eagles 25
Nine Lady Tigers scored for TRM, including 15 points from Mekiah Williams, to lead the TRM Lady Tigers to a 22-point rout of the WSN Lady Eagles, 47-25.
Down 3-0 to WSN to start the game, TRM rallied with a 9-0 run to propel them to a 13-7 lead after one quarter.
In the second quarter, WSN closed the gap to 18-14 with 4:29 left before the half. Those would be WSN’s last points of the first half as TRM used a 7-0 run to end the quarter and to take a 25-14 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, WSN got the first two points of the second half to cut the lead to 25-16 with 7:52 left to play. From there, TRM used a 12-0 run to grab a 37-16 lead with 1:19 left. TRM went on to outscore WSN 15-6 in the quarter to claim a 40-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, TRM edged out the Lady Eagles 7-5 to get the win.
Williams led TRM with 15 points while Marisha Fraser led the Lady Eagles with nine points.
TRM shot 8-for-23 from the free throw line while WSN was 3-for-7.

TRM varsity 62, WSN 54
WSN’s varsity outscored TRM’s varsity in every quarter but one, but the Tigers used a 21-7 scoring advantage in the second quarter to propel them to an eight-point win over the Eagles, 62-54.
WSN led TRM 16-13 after one quarter, but fell to a 21-7 run in the second quarter by the Tigers to trail 34-23 at the half.
WSN edged the Tigers 13-12 in the third quarter to cut the lead to 46-36 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, WSN outscored TRM 18-16, but TRM took the win by eight points.
TRM’s Chardian Johnson led the Tigers in the win with 30 points while WSN was led by Tyshawn Davis’ 14. TRM’s Trae Walker added 17 points while Kellyn Winn had 10.
The Tigers shot 24-for-37 from the free throw line while WSN was 12-for-25.
“This was a great way to finish the regular season,” TRM head coach Juan Johnson said.
We are now looking forward to the second part of the season as we hope to establish ourselves as contenders.”
