Driver’s license fees increase

It will now cost nearly $13 more for drivers to get their licenses.
The new rates, which went into effect Monday, are as follows:
• renewal: $36.25
• duplicate license: $31.25
• CDL license A: $66.25
• CDL license B: $56.25
Each license increased by $12.75, and Probate Judge Doug Agerton said the price changes came as a surprise to office staff.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause our residents,” he said. “We would have loved some advance warning from the state, but that was not the case. We don’t get to set the procedures. The state does.”
