WSN’s girls basketball suffers sub-regional loss at Clarke County

Clarke County jumped out to a 20-2 lead over W.S. Neal’s Lady Eagles basketball team Monday in the class 4A sub-regionals and never looked back as they downed WSN 64-24 in Grove Hill. The 20-point loss ended WSN’s season with a 9-17 record.
Leading WSN 20-2 after one quarter, Clarke County outscored the Lady Eagles 15-10 in the second quarter to build a 35-12 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, the Lady Bulldogs used a 14-6 run to increase their lead to 49-18 heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, CCHS ended the game on a 15-6 run to get the big win.
KeKe Floyd led the Lady Eagles with 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals while MeMe Lawson had four points, three rebounds and eight steals.
Jashira Dees added two points and one rebound while Alexis Morrison had one steal.
With no seniors on the team this year, WSN increased their win total from last season by four wins.
The nine wins this season ties WSN’s win total from the past three years combined. WSN went 5-17 last year, 0-15 in 2012-13, 4-19 in 2011-12, and 5-19 in 2010-11.
