Dubose leads WSN softball to 16-1 win over Hillcrest; JV wins 2-0

Both the W.S. Neal JV and varsity Lady Eagle softball teams came away with wins Tuesday at home against Hillcrest.
The JV Lady Eagles moved to 1-0 this season with a 2-0 win over the Jaguars.
In varsity action, WSN cruised to a 16-1 win to move to 1-1 this season.
In varsity action, Haleigh Dubose led the Lady Eagles in the win in the pitching circle and at the plate.
In the pitching circle, Dubose went all four innings and allowed one hit, one unearned run, walked one and struck out 11.
At the plate, Dubose was a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and a triple and five RBIs.
Kaeli Brown went 1-for-3 with one RBI while Madison Winchester was 2-for-3. Jena Wyatt went 1-fof-2 with two RBIs. Tori Wyatt and Brianna Pugh both had one RBI in the win for the Lady Eagles.
WSN led Hillcrest 4-0 after one inning, 9-0 after two innings, and 14-0 after three innings.
Hillcrest’s lone run came in the top of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 14-1, but WSN added two in the bottom half of the inning to get the win by the 15-run mercy rule.
