Flomaton keeps WSN baseball winless Tuesday in county tourney

In their first game of the Escambia County Tournament Tuesday in Atmore, the W.S. Neal Eagle baseball team remained winless this season as they suffered an 8-4 loss to Flomaton in extra innings.
After a scoreless first inning for both teams, both the Hurricanes and the Eagles plated two runs each in the second inning.
WSN took a 3-2 lead in the third inning and a 4-2 lead in the fourth inning after plating one run in each inning.
Leading Flomaton 4-2 after five innings, the Hurricanes struck for two runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 4-all. Both teams failed to score in the seventh inning to force extra innings.
In the top of the eighth inning, WSN made three errors to allow Flomaton to score four runs to take an 8-4 lead. WSN made six total errors in the loss.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, WSN left the bases loaded to take the loss by four runs.
With the loss for the Eagles of East Brewton, WSN fell to 0-3 overall and to 0-1 in tourney play.
At the plate for WSN, Derrick Barton had one RBI along with Jared Cooper. Lane Chavers was 1-for-3 while Dakota Graves was 2-for-3.
Malcolm Hawthorne went 1-for-2 with one RBI while Dalton Shell was 2-for-4 and Matt Hutchins was 1-for-1 with one RBI.
On the mound, Cooper and Colton Morris pitched with Morris being the pitcher of record.
Cooper went the first six innings and allowed four hits, four runs, two earned, walked six and struck out five.
Morris went the final two innings and allowed no hits, four runs, one earned, walked two and struck out three.
