JDCC softball goes 3-1 Friday and Saturday

In their most recent games Friday and Saturday, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks softball team went 3-1 to move to 6-11 overall.
Hosting a three-team round robin Friday against Marion Military and Baton Rouge Community College, JDCC went 2-0 to move to 5-10 overall.
The Lady Warhawks defeated MMI 1-0 in their first game of the day before downing BRCC 10-2 to move to 5-10 overall.
Hosting a doubleheader Saturday against BRCC, JDCC won game one 6-2 before dropping the second game 3-2.
“We had a great weekend of getting better across all aspects of the game,” JDCC head coach Misti Nims said. “The girls are on the verge of breaking through and peaking at the right time. I am very excited to watch this group of girls through the rest of the season.”

Friday game one: JDCC 1, MMI 0
In a pitcher’s duel Friday against Marion Military, JDCC scored one run in the first inning and held MMI scoreless to blank the Lady Tigers 1-0. MMI left 12 runners on bases including the bases loaded in the first two innings.
Kaitlin Hadaway earned the pitching win for JDCC as she went the complete game and allowed five hits, no runs, walked three and struck out six. Hadaway hit two batters in the win.
At the plate, Hannah Brake went 3-for-3 with one RBI while Paige Wooley was 1-for-3 along with Katlin Bryars. Jordan Swindle went 2-for-3.

Friday game two: JDCC 10, BRCC 2
JDCC pounded out 15 hits, including a homerun from Brake and a double each from Swindle and Chelsey Ramer, to cruise to a 10-2 win over Baton Rouge.
Tied 1-1 after one inning, JDCC added three runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, two more in the fifth and three in the sixth while BRCC’s final run came in the top of the sixth.
Wooley went 3-for-4 with one RBI while Audrey Hamric was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Brake was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Swindle was 2-for-4 with one RBI and a double. Savannah Allen went 2-for-2, Ramer was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Moriah Trujillo was 1-for-2, Caitlyn Hagan was 1-for-1 and Shaquanna Jones was 2-for-2.
In the pitching circle, Brake earned the win as she went four innings and allowed three hits, one unearned run, walked one and struck out one.
Hadaway went the final two innings and allowed two hits, one unearned run, walked and struck out none.

Saturday game one: JDCC 6, BRCC 2
JDCC moved their winning streak to three straight wins Saturday morning as they faced Baton Rouge again and came away with a 6-2 in.
JDCC benefited from a five-run sixth inning. The other JDCC run came in the third inning while BRCC scored one run each in the third and fifth innings.
Hadaway earned the pitching win as she went all seven innings and allowed five hits, two unearned runs, walked one and struck out three.
At the plate, Wooley was 1-for-2 with one RBI while Hamric was 1-for-3. Brake went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Swindle was 1-for-3 with one RBI and Alicia Richardson was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Saturday game two: BRCC 3, JDCC 2
Facing off against each other for the third time in two days, Baton Rouge got the upper hand of JDCC in Saturday’s second game as they earned a 3-2 win.
JDCC led BRCC 2-0 after scoring two runs in the fourth inning. From there, BRCC scored three unanswered runs in the sixth inning to get the one-run win.
Brake took the pitching loss as she went seven innings and allowed three earned runs, walked and struck out four.
At the plate, Hamric, Brake and Allen all had one hit each. Brake and Allen had one RBI each while Hamric and Brake had a double each.
