WSN softball goes 1-2 in Thomasville

Playing in the Lady Tiger Classic Saturday in Thomasville, W.S. Neal’s Lady Eagles softball team went 1-2 in tournament games to fall to 2-3 overall this season.
The Lady Eagles opened tournament play with a 7-4 loss to Leroy before claiming a 9-5 win over Southern Choctaw to move to 1-1 in tournament play.
Against Excel in their third game of the day, the Lady Eagles were no-hit in a 1-0 loss to be eliminated from the tournament.

Game one: Leroy 7, WSN Lady Eagles 4
Leroy scored four runs in the second inning and WSN made four errors in a 7-4 loss to Leroy to start tournament play.
Leroy built a 6-0 lead over WSN after three innings of play and led WSN 7-2 after four innings. WSN rallied with two runs in the fifth to cut the lead to 7-4, but took the loss by three runs.
The Lady Eagles out hit Leroy 6-5 in the loss.
Kaeli Brown, Madison Winchester, Adria Barnett, Haleigh Dubose, Tori Wyatt, and Brianna Pugh all had hits in the loss with Brown and Dubose having one RBI each.
Dubose pitched in the loss as she went four innings and allowed five hits, seven runs, four earned, walked one and struck out five.

Game two: WSN 9, Southern Choctaw 5
In the second game of the day Saturday, Dubose led WSN with her pitching and hitting to a 9-5 win over Southern Choctaw.
At the plate, Dubose went 2-for-2 with four RBIs, a triple and a homerun. Johnson was 1-for-3 with one RBI and a double while Barnett was 2-for-2. Erin Hartsel went 1-for-3, Jena Wyatt was 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Pugh was 1-for-3 with one RBI.
In the pitching circle, Dubose went four innings and allowed three hits, five runs, one earned, walked one and struck out seven.
WSN made four errors in the loss.
WSN led SC 3-0 after two innings and 4-1 after three innings, but surrendered four runs in the top of the fourth inning to SC to fall behind 5-4. In the bottom of the inning, WSN scored five runs in the inning to get the win by four.

Game three: Excel 1, WSN 0
Facing off against Excel in their third game of the day, the Lady Eagles were blanked and held hitless in a 1-0 loss to the Lady Panthers.
The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Dubose took the pitching loss as she went five innings and allowed three hits, one unearned run, walked two and struck out six.
