TRM varsity baseball earns win at Excel Tuesday while JV falls

T.R. Miller’s varsity baseball team got back in the win column Tuesday at Excel as they picked up another 10-run rule win as they downed the Panthers 14-4 in six innings. The win moved the Tigers to 3-1 overall this season.
In JV action, the Tigers dropped their first game of the season by a score of 2-0 to start the year 0-1.

Excel 2, TRM JV 0
The TRM JV team was held to no runs and three hits in a 2-0 loss to Excel Tuesday.
Russell Smith, Garrett Salter and Ty McFerrin all had one hit each for the Tigers.
Stokes Jennings took the loss on the mound as he went three innings and allowed three hits.
Excel’s two runs came in the first inning.

TRM varsity 14, Excel 4
Leading Excel 5-4 after five innings, the Tigers plated nine runs in the sixth inning to cruise to a 14-4 win over the Panthers.
The Tigers of TRM pounded out 17 hits in the win with Jones Manning and Drew Williamson both having doubles in the win and Tim McDonald having a homerun.
Manning had three hits in the win while Williamson had two and two RBIs.
Hunter Brittain had a hit for the Tigers and two RBIs while Chris Jones went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
JoJo Booker finished with two hits in the win and McDonald was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Tripp Floyd and Jason Konsler had two hits each and one RBI each while Jordan Williams had a hit and two RBIs.
Booker, Williamson, and Floyd all pitched in the win and held Excel to four hits. Booker was the pitcher of record.
Booker went four innings and allowed three hits, three earned runs, walked three and struck out nine.
Williamson went one inning and allowed one hit and one unearned run while walking one and striking out one.
Floyd closed out the game by going one inning and striking out one and hitting one batter.
Excel led TRM 1-0 after one inning before the Tigers added four runs in the second to take a 4-1 lead. After Excel closed the gap to 4-3 in the third inning, TRM took a 5-3 lead in the fourth. Excel’s one other run came in the bottom of the fifth inning.
All three of TRM’s wins this season have come by the 10-run rule. The lone loss was by a score of 10-9 to WSN in the finale of the Escambia County Tournament Friday night in Atmore.
