WSN softball goes winless in TRM Invitational

The W.S. Neal softball team went winless (0-4) in the TRM Invitational Friday and Saturday at the YMCA Sports Park to fall to 3-7 overall this year.
The Lady Eagles opened tournament play with a 1-0 loss to Northview on Friday and followed that up with a 7-3 loss to Leroy.
On Saturday, WSN finished pool play with a 5-3 loss to Excel.
After going 0-3 in pool play, WSN was awarded the No. 4 seed in the single elimination part of the tournament and paired with No. 1 seed T.R. Miller.
Against TRM, WSN lost 2-1 to be eliminated from tournament play.

Game one Friday: Northview 1, WSN 0
Northview scored one run in the first inning and that proved to be the only run of the game as the Lady Chiefs edged out the Lady Eagles 1-0.
Madison Winchester, Tori Wyatt, Karissa Johnson and Jena Wyatt all had one hit each in the loss.
Adria Barnett and Haleigh Dubose pitched in the loss with Barnett being the pitcher of record.
Barnett went the first three innings and allowed one hit, one earned run, walked and struck out four.
Dubose went the final two innings and allowed one hit, walked one and struck out two.
WSN left eight runners on base in the loss.

Game two Friday: Leroy 7, WSN 3
Facing off against eventual tournament champion Leroy in their second game of the day Friday, WSN suffered a 7-3 defeat to the Lady Bears.
Once again, WSN out-hit their opponent but could not get the runs across the plate when they were needed.
Kaeli Brown, Winchester, Dubose and Jena Wyatt all had one hit each in the loss while Tori Wyatt went 2-for-3.
Winchester and Tori Wyatt had one RBI each.
Barnett and Dubose both pitched in the loss and combined to go five innings and allowed five hits, seven runs, three earned, walked one and struck out three.

Game three Saturday: Excel 5, WSN 3
Excel scored all five runs in the fourth inning to rally and defeat WSN 5-3 in the final game of pool play Saturday morning.
WSN led Excel 2-0 after three innings before Excel’s rally in the fourth. WSN added one run in the bottom of the fourth, but took the loss by two runs.
Dubose took the pitching loss as she went four innings and allowed four hits, three runs, walked and struck out one.
At the plate, Winchester had a single and Dubose had one RBI. Erin Hartsel had two singles and two RBIs while Marishia Flowers had a single.

Game four Saturday: TRM 2, WSN 1
Facing off against T.R. Miller in the single elimination part of the tournament Saturday afternoon, TRM scored two unanswered runs on WSN to eliminate the Lady Eagles with a 2-1 win.
WSN led TRM 1-0 after the top of the first inning, but saw TRM score one run each in the first and second innings to claim the win by on.
Tori Watt, Dubose, Karissa Johnson and Barnett all had one hit each in the loss. Wyatt and Dubose both had a double each while Johnson had the lone RBI.
Dubose pitched in the loss as she went four innings and allowed four hits, two runs, one earned, walked none and struck out three.
