WSN baseball gets fifth straight win while JV moves to 2-0

The W.S. Neal Eagles baseball team picked up their fifth straight win of the season Monday night in Flomaton as they defeated the Hurricanes 12-1 in five innings. The win moves WSN to 5-3 overall this season.
Leading Flomaton 5-1 after three innings, WSN erupted for seven runs in the fifth inning to aid them in the 11-run win.
Jared Cooper led the Eagles to the win on the mound as he went the complete game five innings and allowed three hits, one earned run, walked four and struck out nine.
At the plate for the Eagles of East Brewton, WSN pounded out 10 hits including a double from Cooper, a triple from Malcolm Hawthorne and homerun from Colton Morris.
Hawthorne went 2-for-2 with one RBI while Dalton Shell was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Rob Jones and Derrick Barton added one hit each while Dakota Graves went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Cooper went 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Morris was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
WSN led Flomaton 2-0 after one inning and 3-0 after the top of the third inning. Flomaton’s one run came in the bottom of the third inning.
In the JV game, WSN won 8-3 to move to 2-0 this season.
In the JV game, Weston Riddle and Jeremy Gafford pitched a two-hitter in the win for the Eagles.
Riddle earned the win on the mound as he went four innings and allowed two hits, three earned runs, walked and struck out six.
Gafford went one inning and walked one.
At the plate for WSN, Jacobey Hawthorne, Aaron Bosarge, Matt Hutchins, and Gafford all had one hit each while Riddle had two. One of Riddle’s hit was a double. Hawthorne, Hutchins, Riddle, PJ Lovelace and Gafford all had one RBI each in the win.
WSN held Flomaton to two runs in the second and one in the fifth while scoring two of their own in the first, one in the second, three in the third inning and one each in the fourth and fifth innings.
