TRM varsity baseball edges out Andy while JV falls by one

T.R. Miller’s baseball, who was recently ranked No. 7 in class 3A by the ASWA, picked up their fourth straight win of the season Thursday night in Andalusia as they downed the Bulldogs 7-5. The win moved TRM to 6-1 this season.
TRM built a 5-1 lead over Andalusia after two innings of play and held on for the two-run win.
Andalusia closed the gap to 5-3 in the third inning but TRM added two runs in the top of the sixth inning to extend their lead to 7-3. Andalusia closed within 7-5 in their half of the sixth inning, but TRM was able to hang on for the win.
Hunter Brittain led TRM in the win, as he was 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple and a homerun and three RBIs. Brittain also pitched TRM to the win as he went four innings and allowed six hits, three earned runs, walked one, struck out five and hit one batter.
Also at the plate for TRM, Tripp Floyd and Jordan Williams led as they both added doubles in the win.
Jones Manning added a hit while Drew Williamson went 2-for-4. Chris Jones and JoJo Booker both added a hit each while Tim McDonald finished with one RBI.
Russell Smith picked up the save on the mound for the Tigers as he went the final three innings of the game and allowed one hit, two unearned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Andalusia 12, TRM JV 11
TRM’s JV team fell to 1-3 overall this season as they suffered a 12-11 loss to the Bulldogs.
TRM led Andalusia 6-0 after the top of the second inning but gave up three runs in the bottom of the inning and eight in the third inning to fall behind 11-6.
Down by five after three innings, TRM plated two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to tie the game at 11-all. Andalusia scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to get the win by one run.
On the mound for TRM, Stokes Jennings, Andrew Etheridge and O’Neil White all pitched.
Jennings went two innings and allowed three runs on two hits, no earned runs, and struck out one.
Etheridge went one inning and allowed eight runs on four hits, walked and hit two batters while striking out one.
White went the final two innings and suffered the loss as he allowed one run on two hits, walked and struck out one.
Offensively for TRM at the plate, Tyler Baxter had two hits (one single and one double) a walk and had five RBIs in the loss.
Jennings had a triple and three RBIs while Ty McFerrin, White, Garrett Salter, Trentez Johnson and Tyler Reid all had one hit each.
