TRM JV baseball splits with Opp

Playing in Opp Monday, the T.R. Miller JV baseball team split with the Bobcats to see their record go to 3-4 overall this season.
The Tigers lost game one 9-8, but earned a 2-0 win in game two.

Game one: Opp 9, TRM JV 8
Opp scored seven runs in the second inning and held on to defeat TRM’s JV team in game on Monday in Opp.
TRM led Opp 4-0 after the top of the second inning, but fell behind 7-4 heading into the third inning. Opp took an 8-4 lead over TRM in the fourth, but TRM rallied with four in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 8-all. Opp’s one run in the bottom of the fifth gave them the win by one.
Russell Smith pitched two innings for TRM and allowed seven earned runs. Smith allowed four hits and struck out one. Caleb Winton went the final three innings and took the loss as he allowed two runs, one earned, allowed four hit and struck out three.
Offensively for the Tigers of TRM, Stokes Jennings, Joshua Winton, Caleb Winton, Noah Purdie and Drew Reed all had one hit each. Jennings’ hit was a double.

Game two: TRM JV 2, Opp 0
Stokes Jennings pitched a complete game two-hit shutout for TRM to give the Tigers a 2-0 win in the second game of the day. Jennings earned the win on the mound for the Tigers.
At the plate, Garrett Salter and Caleb Winton had doubles while Jennings scored both runs.
TRM scored one run in the first inning and one in the third.
