TRM baseball holds Excel to two hits in 7-1 win Tuesday

T.R. Miller’s baseball team earned their 11th win of the season and their ninth straight win Tuesday at home as they downed Excel 7-1.
Coming off two wins against Hillcrest last week, wins that saw the Tigers outscore the Jaguars 21-0 and allowed only one hit in two games, the Tigers’ pitching staff kept up their dominance against Excel.
Hunter Brittain, Tim McDonald, Tripp Floyd and JoJo Booker combined to go seven innings and allowed one unearned run on two hits.
Brittain earned the win on the mound as he went three innings and allowed one unearned run on one hit, walked one and struck out three.
McDonald went two innings and walked one while striking out two batters. Floyd went one inning and struck out two while Booker went one inning and allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out three.
TRM led Excel 2-0 after one inning and 3-0 after two innings. After Excel plated their lone run in the top of the third inning, the Tigers added two more in the third inning and two in the sixth to get the win by six.
The Tigers pounded out 12 hits in the win. Jones Manning led with three hits and two RBIs while Drew Williamson added two hits and Brittain went 1-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
Chris Jones added two hits and one RBI along with Booker. Floyd was 1-for-2 while Jordan Williams went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
With the win, the No. 7-ranked Tigers improved to 11-1 overall.

Excel 20, TRM JV 1
The JV Tigers fell on hard times Tuesday as Excel cruised to a 20-1 win. The loss ended the Tigers’ season with a 4-6 overall record.
TRM was held to one lone run in the first inning while Excel led 4-1 after one inning and 5-1 after two innings. The Panthers then plated six runs in the third to take an 11-1 lead and added two more in the fourth to increase their lead to 13-1. In the fifth, Excel added seven more runs to claim the win by 19.
The JV Tigers had only two hits in the loss with Daniel Reed and Ty McFerrin both having hit. Reed scored the lone run.
On the mound, O’Neil White went 2 1/3 innings and suffered the loss as he allowed 11 runs on two hits and struck out two. Andrew Etheridge went 1 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on one hit and struck out two.
McFerrin went 1 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs on six hits and struck out two.
