TRM softball outlasts Opp in 11 innings Tuesday for area win

In a game that went 11 innings Tuesday in Brewton, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers softball team avenged an earlier loss to Opp as they downed the Lady Bobcats 4-3 in extra innings.
The area win for the Lady Tigers improved TRM to 1-1 in area play and to 8-2 overall.
After three scoreless innings to start the game, TRM struck first with one run in the bottom of the fourth to take a 1-0 lead.
TRM held their 1-0 lead until the top of the sixth inning and neither team scored the rest of the game to force extra innings.
The two teams failed to score in the first three frames of extra innings until Opp plated two runs in the 11th inning to take a 3-1 lead.
In the bottom of the 11th, TRM scored three runs to claim the 4-3 win. The winning run came off of an error.
Taylor Austin went all 11 innings for the TRM in the pitching circle and allowed six hits, three earned runs, walked two and struck out four.
At the plate, Austin led TRM with two hits and one RBI. One of Austin’s hits was a triple.
Steely Ruzic and Myra Reiss both had two hits while Mallori Floyd, Krystal Bell, Mary Madison Brown and Leslie Holmes all had one hit each.
