County BOE announces personnel changes

A number of personnel changes were approved at the March Escambia County Schools board meeting.
Those granted leaves of absence included:
• Katherine Reid, teacher aide, Rachel Patterson Elementary School, leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act, effective March 18;
• Kellie Steele, JAG career specialist, Escambia County High School, leave of absence under the Family Medical Leave Act, effective March 2;
The following resignations were accepted:
• Johnny Chavers, HVAC/Electrician specialist, Brewton Maintenance Department, effective March 27;
• Suzanne McGill, registered nurse, Escambia County Middle School, effective March 18; and,
• Leah Fuqua, Special Education Teacher, Pollard-McCall Junior High School, effective May 29.
Five employees announce their retirements and included:
• Anne Yuhasz, Special Education Teacher, W.S. Neal Middle School, effective June 1;
• Draunetta Todd, Special Education Teacher, Escambia County Middle School, effective June 1;
• Sherry Lucas, Bus Driver, Atmore Bus Shop, effective today, April 1;
• William Gillis, Custodian, Pollard-McCall Junior High School, effective June 1; and,
• Hilda Blakely, Principal, Escambia County Alternative School, effective July 1.
The board voted to employ:
• Lotoya Cooper, Graduation Coach/Lead Teacher, After-School Program, Escambia County High School, effective March 2;
• Alice Stewart, Registered Nurse, Escambia County Middle School, effective April 7 (Replacing Suzanne McGill); and,
• Rachel Wood, Special Education Teacher Aide, Huxford Elementary School, effective April 7.
The board also granted temporary employment to:
• Toya McMillan, Assistant Principal, Rachel Patterson Elementary School, to work up to an additional 10 days, effective June 15-25.
