Drivers in the area of Jennings Park may have noticed some work being done in the area this week as crews have constructed a new parking lot in the area.
City of Brewton’s Connie Baggett said work at the park is going well.
“Parking at the site will soon be doubled and it will vastly improve the appearance on that high-traffic side,” Baggett said. “Fruit trees will add another element to an excellent public space.”

Choo-Choo to roll Saturday
Spring is here and so is the upcoming start of Brewton’s Choo-choo Farmers’ Market.
The market will open this Saturday, April 4, and will continue each Saturday through Dec. 19.
Those who wish to sell produce can participate at no cost.
Vendors with value added products like breads, cake, confections and other handmade craft items can rent a space for $10 weekly.
A white tent is required, and the city has a limited number of tents to loan on a first-come, first served basis.
Hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekly.
“Choo-choo will roll rain or shine unless weather becomes a threat to public safety,” Baggett said.
This year’s season opener will include musical guests Sugarcane Jane.
