TRM JV softball splits with JUB, while varsity cruises to area win against Hillcrest

T.R. Miller’s JV and varsity softball teams picked up wins Monday and Tuesday.
The JV Lady Tigers split a doubleheader at J.U. Blacksher Monday as they won game one 10-0 in five innings, but lost game two 3-2. The split made TRM’s record 11-2.
In varsity action, TRM finished their area play with a 17-2 win over Hillcrest in three innings. The win for the varsity Lady Tigers improved them to 12-4 overall and finished them with a 3-1 record in area play.

Game one: TRM JV 10, JUB 0
TRM JV pitcher Anna Grace White pitched a two-hit shutout to lead TRM to a 10-0 win over JUB in game one.
White went all five innings and allowed two hits, no runs, walked two, and struck out none in the win.
At the plate for the Lady Tigers, Myra Reiss went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs to lead in the win.
Morgan Longmire had a hit while Steely Ruzic had two hits and one RBI. Gabbi Solomon finished with two hits and two RBIs while Mary Madison Brown added one hit.
Mallori Floyd, White and Abigail Cave also had one hit each. White and Cave added one RBI each.

Game two: JUB 3, TRM JV 2
In game two, TRM rallied late but suffered a 3-2 loss to take the split.
JUB led TRM 3-0 after two innings. TRM added one run each in the fourth and fifth innings, but took their second loss of the season by one run.
Steely Ruzic and Kaleigh Folsom pitched in the loss with Ruzic being the pitcher of record.
Ruzic went three innings and allowed two hits, one unearned run, walked two and struck out four.
Folsom went the last inning and allowed one hit, two earned runs, walked three and struck out none.
At the plate for the JV Lady Tigers, Ruzic had a triple while Floyd and Folsom had one RBI each. Ruzic, Solomon, Brown and Reiss all had one hit each in the loss.

TRM varsity 17, Hillcrest 2
TRM struck for 13 runs in the first inning to cruise to a 17-2 area win over Hillcrest Tuesday in Brewton.
TRM added three more runs in the second inning and one in the third while Hillcrest’s two runs came in the third inning. TRM had 10 hits in the win while the Lady Jaguars had only two hits.
Taylor Austin and White pitched in the win for TRM with Austin being the pitcher of record.
Austin went the first two innings and allowed no hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out four. Austin hit two batters in the win.
White went one inning and allowed two hits, two earned runs, walked and struck out one.
At the plate for TRM, Madison Douglas led with a triple and a homerun. Steely Ruzic also had a homerun in the win.
Austin, Brown, and Reiss had one RBI each while Douglas and Krystal Bell added four each. Steely Ruzic had two.
Brown finished with one hit along with Bell while Reiss, Floyd, Douglas, and Ruzic had two each.
