Man hits, cuts wife; gets 20 years

A Flomaton man was given a 20-year prison sentence after assaulted his wife in December.
Troy Dewayne Boutwell, 46, was arrested on Dec. 16 and charged with domestic violence-interference with a domestic violence emergency call and domestic violence strangulation.
Chief Deputy Mike Lambert of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said Boutwell was jailed after he hit his wife in the face, cut her with a knife and prevented her from calling 911 by taking and breaking her phone.
Boutwell pleaded guilty on April 9 and was given a 20-year split sentence. He was ordered to serve three years under the Department of Corrections and to serve five years on probation after he is released.
