JDCC baseball swept by Wallace-Selma to end season

In their final home games of the season Thursday against Wallace State-Selma, the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks baseball team was swept by the Patriots.
JDCC lost game one 13-7 and game two 7-2. The losses dropped JDCC to 20-29 overall and to 10-20 in conference play.
In game one Thursday, JDCC gave up back-to-back four-run innings to Selma after leading 1-0 after two innings. In the third and fourth innings, Selma plated four runs each to take a 4-1 lead after three innings and an 8-1 lead after four innings.
JDCC rallied in the fifth and seventh innings as they scored one in the fifth and three in the seventh to cut the lead to 8-5.
Selma put the finals nails in the coffin in the top of the ninth as they scored five runs to take an eight run lead.
JDCC plated two in the final inning of play to get within 13-7, but took the loss by six runs.
The two teams combined for 32 hits in the nine-inning game.
Leading JDCC at the plate was Dake Rivers as he went 4-for-4 with one RBI. Brandon Davis added three hits with one being a double while Craig Headley and Gregory Ciangiatto had two hits each.
John-Mark Cosby, Brandon Goins, Heath Young and Riley Stokes all had one hit each. T.R. Miller product Caden Lodge and Ciangiatto both led with two RBIs each while Goins and Young had one RBI each.
On the mound, Stokes got the start and the loss as he went three innings and allowed eight hits, seven earned runs, walked one, hit one and struck out four.
W.S. Neal product Tyler Joyner went the final six innings and allowed nine hits, six earned runs, walked none, hit one and struck out four.
In game two, Selma used a four-run fifth inning to get the 7-2 win.
Headley and Stokes led with two hits each while Davis, Cosby, Bailey Hansen and Lodge had one hit each. Headley and Cosby had one RBI each.
Cosby, Headley and Hansen had a double each.
On the mound, Dylan Johnson, Matt Gillis and Chase Laney all pitched with Johnson taking the loss.
The trio combined to go seven innings and allowed 10 hits, seven runs, six earned, walked four and struck out one.

JDCC at WSS Saturday:
Playing in Selma Saturday, JDCC was swept by the Patriots 2-0 to end their season on a four-game losing streak.
JDCC lost game one 6-3 and game two by a score of 5-4 to end their season with a 20-31 overall record and a 10-22 record in conference play.
In game one, Selma scored three runs each in the first and third innings while all three of JDCC’s runs came in the eighth inning. JDCC made four errors in the loss.
At the plate, Brandon Davis, Lodge and Chad Simmons all had two hits each while Headley and Cosby had one each. Cosby led with two RBIs while Ciangiatto had one. Cosby had a double in the loss.
On the mound, Garrett Davis and Nick Boswell pitched. The duo combined to go eight innings and allowed nine hits, six runs, four earned, walked one and struck out eight.
No stats were known from game two’s loss.
