TRM track teams place in top-5 at state

T.R. Miller’s girl’s track team came in third place at the state meet in Cullman over the weekend while the boys took fifth place.
In the girls meet, TRM placed third with 79 points behind state champion American Christian Academy and runner-up Cottage Hill.
ACA finished with 96 points while CH tallied 94 points.
In the boys meet, Winfield won the state championship with 108 points while Montgomery Academy took second with 77 points. Piedmont finished in third place with 70.5 points followed by Hillcrest’s 67.5 and TRM’s 64.5.
In the boys meet, TRM was led by:
• Markail Mitchell, seventh place, 200-meter dash; 13th place, high jump; 20th place, long jump; fourth place, javelin
• Terry Samuel, state champion, 400-meter dash (51.54); third place, javelin
• Micah Flores, 21st place, 3,200-meter run
• Ahmaud Taylor, fourth place, 110-meter hurdles; seventh place, high jump; fourth place, long jump; second place, triple jump
• Trae Walker, eighth place, 300-meter hurdles
• Michael Smith, ninth place, 300-mter hurdles; 17th place, triple jump
• Kellyn Winn, 21st place, 300-meter hurdles
• Bailey Graves, sixth place, pole vault
• Trin Miller, 11th place, pole vault
• O’Neil White, 16th place, pole vault
• Jalen Walker, sixth place, triple jump
• Fabion Jones, third place, shot put
• Ronald Young, 22nd place, discus
• Chardian Johnson, ninth place, javelin
The boy’s 4×100-meter relay team took third place at the stat meet while the 4×400-meter relay team took seventh place. The 4×800-meter relay team took eighth place.
In the girls meet, TRM was led by:
• Allie Nelson, fifth place, 800-meter run; sixth place, 1,600-meter run; fourth place, 3,200-meter run
• Tarah Townsend, 14th place, 3,200-meter run
• Madison Lum, 17th place, 3,200-meter run
• Makayla Harrison, second place, 100-meter hurdles; second place, high jump; fifth place, long jump
• Mekiah Williams, seventh place, 100-meter hurdles; third place, 300-meter hurdles
• Kelsi Lum, ninth place, 300-meter hurdles
• Majestie Walker, fifth place, high jump;
• Peyton Baxter, ninth place, pole vault
• Morgan Manning, 11th place, pole vault
• Shayn Bradley, ninth place, long jump; ninth place, triple jump
• Sarah Byrd, eighth place, triple jump
• Serna Smith, fourth place, shot put; state champion, discus (100-feet, 9 inches)
• Akiliah Brazile, eighth place, shot put; eighth place, discus
• Ivory Johnson, 19th place, shot put
• Lena Nettles, 20th place, discus
• Krystal Bell, 21st place, javelin.
The girl’s 4×100-meter relay team took fifth place at the state meet while the 4×400-meter team took fourth place. The 4×800-meter relay team took ninth place.
