Construction work at the T.R. Miller football and baseball fields is in full swing and TRM athletic director Jamie Riggs said he and others are excited about the changes.
“It’s happening,” Riggs said. “They are trying to get football done first because obviously it needs to be done by August. I am sure this summer they will start on the baseball field end of it.”
Riggs said it is going to be great when it gets done.
“We are very excited about what it is going to look like,” he said. “The football stadium and the baseball field will look entirely different. The baseball field is essentially going to be a complete makeover. It will look entirely different. We are excited about that.”
Recently, the City of Brewton pledged $100K to help with costs of the renovations after some things had to be cut after bids came in at a higher cost than expected.
“We haven’t sat down and looked at all of what that money will be used for,” Riggs said. “We are very excited about the City of Brewton for doing that. We are having some other money pledged to help along those lines.
“These facilities will be here for a long time and they will be used for many years to come because they will be quality facilities. I think everybody in the city shares in that.
“That will be a great thing and we are very appreciative to those helping out.”
