Brewton City basketball camp begins next week at TRM

The Brewton City Basketball Camp will be held again this year at T.R. Miller High Schools’ Gym.
The camp is a free camp and will be held from June 9 through July 16 in Brewton.
The camp will begin at noon and last to 5 p.m.
The camp is open for students in grades 5th through 8th as of the fall of 2015. Camp applications can be picked up through T.R. Miller Lady Tigers basketball coach Ron Jackson.
“Today, we don’t play enough basketball and we don’t know a lot of the fundamentals,” Jackson said. “The fundamentals are being lost. Kids used to play outside and used to just get out and do something and we are not doing that.
“I have noticed that we have some kids who cannot even throw the basketball down the court and they just don’t know the normal skills of basketball.
“With this camp, I am going to try and make it where they can play basketball all summer. We are going to try and keep them out in the heat and keep them busy and just try and help them fill that void of not doing anything.
“We are bringing in a lot of good people who are good at several things.”
For more information contact coach Ron Jackson by email at ronaldw_jackson@yahoo.com or by telephone at 251-363-5378.
The camp will see fundamental drills along with 1-on-1, 3-on-3, and 5-on-5 tournaments along with 3-point competitions and free throw competitions.
The Ronald Jackson Elite Camp will be held June 15-16 and 24-25 from noon to 6:30 p.m.
All camps will be held at the T.R. Miller High School Gymnasium on 1835 Douglas Avenue in Brewton.
