HARRIET McLEOD SNOWDEN
Brewton

Harriet McLeod Snowden, 75, passed away Wed., May 27, 2015, at her Brewton residence.
She was born in Mobile, and had been a resident of Brewton for the past 40 years. During her working years, she was a medical transcriptionist at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulmer Y. McLeod, Sr. and Aura Mae McLeod.
She is survived by her husband of over 46 years, Marvin Frank ‘Jimmy’ Snowden of Brewton; three children, George Linville (Doris) Hinds, Jr. of Mobile, Sharon Kay Hinds (Edward) Dearman of Daphne, and Marvin Jeffrey (Kim) Snowden of Gulfport, Miss.; a brother, Ulmer Y. (Jackie) McLeod, Jr. of Mobile; and five grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held Fri., May 29, at noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Carey Parker officiating with Craver’s Funeral Home directing.

HUGH JACKSON WHITE
Pollard

Hugh Jackson White, 40, of Pollard, passed away on Sat., May 23, 2015.
He was born in Brewton, and was lifelong resident of the town of Pollard. He graduated ninth grade at Pollard-McCall Jr. High School in 1989 and then went on to graduate from Flomaton High School in 1992.
He continued his education at Jefferson Davis Community College where he earned his associate’s degree in 1994. In 1996 he earned his bachelor’s degree in middle school math and science and in 2002 he completed his master’s degree in educational leadership, both at the University of West Florida.
He had served as principal for the Pollard-McCall Jr. High School since 2006. In 2013, he became a colonel by completing his auctioneer’s certification at Troy University of Dothan. He also served as a town councilman for the town of Pollard and was a member of Pollard United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, F.P. ‘Skippy’ White; grandparents, Rufus and Mary Beth White and John and Sarah White.
He is survived by his mother, Clara White of Pollard; wife, Traci Killam White of Pollard; son, Hugh Jackson ‘Jack’ White, Jr. of Pollard; daughters, Mattie Diane White of Pollard, and Abbie Claire white of Pollard; brother, Todd (Kris) White of Pollard; sister, Sarah Anne (John Robert) Fountain of Pollard; six nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sat., May 30, at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. with Bro. Floyd Dyal and Bro. Winston Jay officiating.
Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery in Pollard with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were Cade White, Donnie White, Steve Creamer, Danny Parker, Dennis Hadaway, and Wesley Underwood.
Flowers are being accepted, but in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pollard-McCall Jr. High School or to Kelsie Padgett of which both donations may be made at the school.

SYLVIA JACKSON GRAVES
Brewton

Sylvia Jackson Graves, 53, of Brewton, passed away on Tues., May 26, 2015, at her home.
She was a native of Brewton, and a resident of the Brewton community since 1979, coming from Jay, Fla.
During her working years she worked in the convenience store industry and was of the Assembly of God faith. She is preceded in death by her father, Calvin Jackson.
She is survived by her mother, Eloise Muse of Bratt, Fla.; daughter, Tamika Graves of Brewton; brothers, Ken Jackson of Bay Minette, and Randy Jackson of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; granddaughters, Kalee Delane Burkett and Tatum Shyanne Crumpton.
Funeral services were held on Sun., May 31, at 2 p.m. at the Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pat Carden officiating.
Interment will follow in Beulah Cemetery in Brewton, with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers were Randy Jackson, Ken Jackson, Danny Evans and Bo Burkett.

JEAN PARKER EMMONS
Brewton

Jean Parker Emmons, 81, of Hwy. 31 North in Brewton, passed away Sun., May 31, 2015, in a local hospital after brief illness. She was a native of Brewton, a former resident of Mobile from 1952-2002 before moving back to Brewton. She was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.
She is survived by three sons, Larry Emmons of Mobile, Robert Emmons of Uriah, and Carl Emmons of Bay Minnette; four brothers, Frankie J. Parker, James Parker, Donald Ray Parker, and Jackie Parker, all of Brewton; two sisters, Margie Parker Arthur of East Brewton and Cathryn Parker Graves of Brewton; and two grandchildren, Audrey Emmons and Ryan Emmons.
Graveside services are scheduled for today at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Cemetery with the Rev. James Aubry Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.

The late Debra Scott Hamilton was born Aug. 24, 1953, to the late Henry and Annie D. Scott. She departed this life on May 23, 2015, at Baptist South Hospital, in Montgomery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Hamilton, oldest daughter, Michelle Scott, and sister-in-law, Nancy Harris.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her son, Leon (O.J.) Scott; two daughters, Rashenna (Chaune) Thomas, and Ravinna (Wilbert) Barr; six granddaughters, Kenyatta Scott, Kyrius Scott, Danajah Scott (very devoted), Ariyanna Barr, Rhiannna Barr, and Mt’Zion Barr; loving sisters and brothers, Nell (Walter) Hamilton of Detroit, Mich., Peggy Harris of Evergreen, Henri (Willie) Perkins of Detroit, Mich., Sondra (Lyle) McCall of Smithville, N.J., Zachary (Yeong hui) Scott of Montgomery, Ida (James) Abrams of Evergreen, Kenneth (Annetta) Scott of Montgomery, Ricky (Betty) Scott of Evergreen, Tracy Scott of Colorado Springs, Colo., Janice Scott of Oswego, Ill., Arturo Scott of Montgomery, Roderick Scott and his fiancée (Annie Lewis) of Montgomery, Patricia Watson and Gifford Rogers, both of Evergreen, Thomas Rogers and Philander Rogers, both of Montgomery, Kimberly McCall of Brewton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

JESSE TAYLOR III

Jesse Taylor III, 64, of Atmore, passed away Sun., May 31, 2015, at his residence.
He was born in Brewton, and was a life time resident of Escambia County. He worked as a finance manager at Johnson Ford, and was of the Methodist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Taylor Jr. and Charlotte Ann Taylor.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Sue Taylor of Trenton, Ga.; a son, Jesse (Crystal) Taylor, IV of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Sara (Rodney) Devers of Castleberry; a brother, William Bartlett Taylor of Brewton; a sister, Anna (Michael) Barlow of Cumming, Ga.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Madden officiating. Private interment will be in Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on today from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m.

Verlyn Byron Garrett, 86, of Old Bay Road Brewton, passed away Sun., May 31, 2015, at his residence after a brief illness. He was a native of River Falls, and a long time resident of Brewton.
He was of the Baptist faith, a 1947 graduate of Pleasant Home High School, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and retired from the shipping department at the Container Corporation of America with 34 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rudine Maddox Garrett of Brewton; one son, Randy (Jamie) Garrett of Enterprise; one daughter, Debra (Frank) Gay of Brewton; three sisters, Eleanor Williamson of Gantt, Jearldyne Kelly of Brownville, Texas, and Rebecca Davis of Andalusia; five grandchildren, Amanda (Derrick) Mason, Jessica Garrett, Brett Garrett, Ryan Garrett, and Jacob Garrett; and four great-grandchildren, Toby Mason, Misty Mason, Henry Mason, and Maddie Mason.
Visitation will be held Thurs., June 4, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thurs., June 4, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Ferguson officiating.

ROY LUCAS
Cantonment, Fla.

Roy Lucas, 85, of Madrid Road in Cantonment, Fla., passed away Tues., June 2, 2015, in a Pensacola, Fla., hospice facility. He was a native of Brewton, and long time resident of the Damascus Community in Brewton, before moving to Cantonment, Fla. He was of the Assembly of God faith and a retired saw operator from the timber industry.
He is survived by his brother, Lawrence Lucas of Brewton; sister, Eunice (Sidney) Gunn of Cantonment, Fla.; grandson, Al Wood of Brewton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thurs., June 4, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlos Jackson officiating.
Interment will follow in Damascus Cemetery in the Damascus Community in Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
