Opp’s 12U All-Stars secured a spot in the tournament’s championship game with a 3-0 win over Brewton on Friday night in Opp.
Brewton got a hit from Kyle Blevins with one-out in the top of the first, but the Opp squad kept Brewton off the scoreboard in the first.
Opp looked like it might get a one-out hit from Hal Smithart in the top of the second inning, but an amazing catch by Brewton center fielder Trent Cooper robbed Smithart of a hit. Cooper was running straight back towards the center field fence, when he held his glove up on the run slapping the ball. Cooper then somehow managed to corral the ball barehanded for the out.
In the bottom of the fourth, Jesse Coon stepped up to the plate and hammered the first pitch he saw deep over the fence in center field and over a utility truck fixing the scoreboard.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Opp went up 3-0 on a passed ball and held Brewton scoreless the next inning to get the win.

CC 6, EB 1
The Covington County 12U All-Stars battled their way through the loser’s bracket after eliminating East Brewton with a 6-1 win Friday night in Opp.
Covington County went on to defeat Brewton 5-4 in seven innings to eliminate the Brewton all-stars from tournament play.

Brewton 2, CC 1 (Wednesday)
Brewton knocked off the Covington County 12U All-Stars 2-1 Wednesday in Opp.
Tucker Livings started on the mound for the County All-Stars and got the first player he faced to strike out, but a hit-by-pitch, a single and an error loaded the bases for Brewton with one out.
Earl Dolihite came up and lined a pitch to third baseman Gabrien Dunn, who tagged third for the second out. However, Kyle Blevins was able to score from third to give Brewton a 1-0 lead. Livings picked up his second strike out of the inning on the next batter to end the Brewton threat.
In the top of the fourth, the County struck back and tied the game when CC crushed the first pitch over the right center field fence for a home run.
In the top of the fifth, Blevins lead off with a single followed by a single from Miller Hart to put runners on first and third. Wyn Brittain then drove a pitch to center that was deep enough for Blevins to tag up from third for the go-ahead run.
