All three volleyball teams from T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal took part in a summer play-date Thursday at Brewton Middle School to help them prepare for the upcoming 2015 season.
For T.R. Miller’s teams, all three teams won all of their matches according to first-year head coach Terri Lynne Peacock.
The varsity Lady Tigers won 2-0 over Excel, Jay and W.S. Neal while the JV team won 2-0 over Andalusia and 2-0 over W.S. Neal. In middle school action, MBS defeated Excel 2-0 and W.S. Neal 2-0.
Peacock said she is very proud of all three team’s play at the tournament.
“This tournament is a great way for us to see which direction we need to head in,” she said. “We experienced some success at the summer play date and also became aware of several key things that we need to continue work on. We appreciate everyone who came out and supported all teams present at the tournament. We would also like to thank the parents, community members and businesses who helped make this tournament a success.”
For WSN, varsity and JV head coach Jason Blaney said he saw some good things from his teams.
“The JV played exceptionally well as they are still working on the transition into the high school program,” Blaney said. “They are a very athletic group and I’m excited for their future. The varsity team played very well at times. We have to work on a few things like our receive game and communication.  The next three weeks we will get out the kinks and look forward to great season.”
