Production has begun on Brewton’s first feature film – “Aborted Traffick.”
Bea W. Bliss, the film’s writer and producer, said more than 20 locals were cast for roles back in June.
“Filming began on July 25, and we should wrap up Aug. 9 before heading into post-production,” Bliss said.
Bliss said she and producers have been welcomed in Brewton with open arms.
“So many have stepped up to help us,” she said. “We have to give a special thank you to a number of people.”
Bliss said Don Kelly, dean of business affairs at Jefferson Davis Community College, helped to provide filming locations at JDCC, while Neil Jackson, owner of The Groove, opened his doors for crews.
“And then there was Bud and Jean Herndon, owners of Bud & Jean’s Country Store; Connie Baggett for her ongoing sponsorship and support as location manager; Lynn Likely, who served as assistant to the producer, and Josh Godwin at David’s Catfish House with his generous craft donation for the cast and crew,” Bliss said. “We couldn’t have made this film without everyone’s continued support.”
Milo’s Tea is also serving as a film sponsor.
Bliss said filming, which is held on Saturdays, is ongoing, and for those who may not have made a cast list, there is a way to get involved.
“The public can support the cast, crew and production of Brewton’s first film by becoming a ‘walking billboard,’” she said. “ Aborted Traffick T-shirts are available to the general public if interested in one, contact Lynn Likely for more details.”
Also, there are ad placements for the red carpet movie premiere booklet available to businesses, and individuals, as well as more branding sponsorship opportunities, Bliss said Likely, who is the Brewton Public Library director, can be reached via email at lynn_likely@bellsouth.net. One may also email abortedtraffickmovie@gmail.com for a T-shirt or to become a sponsor.
