Brewton resident Connor Rush has brought home top honors at an international teen talent competition.

Rush, the son of Dru and Connie Rush, recently traveled to Cleveland, Tenn., and was one of hundreds of participants from across the U.S. and other counties to compete for the title. Held on the campus of Lee University and organized by the Church of God, the week-long competition ended with Rush being selected as the winner of three categories – strings plucked, teen Bible teaching and male vocal solo.

He brought home the international title for male vocal solo.

Rush represented the state, as well as his home church, Cornerstone Church of God in Brewton.

The award earned him a paid scholarship to Lee University, where he is currently attending on a honors academic scholarship and Phi Theta Kappa transfer scholarship. He is pursuing a degree in pastoral ministries.
