The T.R. Miller Tigers defeated the Pike County Bulldogs Friday night, 49-8, to advance to the third round of the playoffs. The Tigers accumulated 517 yards of total offense on the night.

The Tiger defense held Pike County to only six first downs for the game. Pike County had 222 total yards.

Leading the Tigers were senior running backs Markail Mitchell with 18 carries for 168 yards and a touchdown; and Ahmaud Taylor with 18 carries for 125 yards and four touchdowns.

In a game that would determine the Tiger’s opponent for next round, Hillcrest-Evergreen defeated American Christian 30-27 to advance.

TRM will host Hillcrest-Evergreen next Friday in the quarterfinals of the 3A state playoffs.
