Outreach Thrift Store and Compassion for Brewton will host their first annual free clothing giveaway Friday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

This event is designed to help those in need within the community, said Pastor Bo Bell.

“A big ‘thank you’ goes to the community for blessing us so abundantly with donations to help open Outreach Thrift,” Bell said. “We would like to return the blessings to our city by giving away over 3,000 pounds of clothing.”

Thousands of articles of gently used clothing (all sizes, from newborn to big and tall adults), shoes, toys, books, accessories and household items will be available to everyone in the community for free, Bell said. People may come get whatever they need for them and their families, and bags will be provided by the thrift store.

At noon, the giving will continue with check presentations to the First United Methodist Church Men’s Wheelchair Ministry and to the Christmas Project, Bell said.

“Compassion for Brewton’s goal is to help people and organizations in need in the community of Brewton,” he said. “We want to help in any way we can. We recently partnered with the John L. Fisher Community Center’s ‘Painting a Room of Hope’ program and look forward to many more opportunities to help our city.”

Donations are accepted at drop boxes anytime or to schedule a pick up, call 251.867.7411, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

“Every time you partner with Outreach Thrift, you are helping someone turn their life around, so remember – help us; help others,” Bell said.
