WSN girls 0-2, boys 1-1 in tourney

This past week W.S. Neal basketball competed in the Monroe County Tournament. Girl’s varsity went 0-2 against Monroe County and Jackson. The boy’s varsity went 1-1 against Jackson and Monroe County.

In a close game the Lady Eagles would fall short to Monroe County.

Leading WSN was Keke Floyd with 20 points, five rebounds and one steal; Marishia Fraser with eight points, two rebounds and four steals; Alyssa English with eight points and one rebound; Taylor Burns with seven points and four rebounds; and Kayla Johnson with two points and six rebounds.

 

WSN Lady Eagles 39, Jackson 54

WSN was plagued by mistakes, making 38 turnovers in their double-digit loss to Jackson.

Leading WSN was Keke Floyd with 26 points, 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals. Floyd was 16 of 20 from the foul line.

 

WSN 70, Jackson 51

The boy’s varsity team was able to pick up their second win of the season in dominant fashion.

Leading WSN was Tyshawn Davis with 21 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals; Darius Tolbert with 16 points and three rebounds; and Troy Lewis with 13 points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals. Treylon Watson and Dalton Shell had eight points each.

WSN 47, Jackson 69

 

The boy’s varsity suffered their first loss of the season in a game Eagle players couldn’t get shots to fall.

Leading the team was Darius Tolbert with 10 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, three steals and one block; Troy Lewis with 11 points and two rebounds, Tyshawn Davis with seven points, seven rebounds and two assists; and Dalton Shell with seven points, four rebounds and four steals.

After the tournament seniors Keke Floyd and Tyshawn Davis were respectively named to the girl and boy’s Monroe County All-Tournament team.
