Beatrice Lewis

Brewton

 

Beatrice Lewis, 74, of Brewton, passed away on Sun., Nov. 22, 2015.

Funeral services were held Sat., Nov. 28, at 2:30 p.m with Pastor Herman Bradley officiating. Interment followed at Second Bethlehem Church Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Directors directing.

She was born Aug. 9, 1941, in to the parentage of Ishmael and Millie Davis White.

Early in life she joined Christ Kingdom Ministry Center where she remained a faithful member until her health failed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lewis Jr.; a daughter, Gloria Jean White; and parents, Ishmael and Millie Davis White.

She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Maurice (Tonya) Lewis of Brewton; one grandson, Clarence Deshaun Lacey of Mobile; six granddaughters, Tawana Lacey of Lilburn, Ga., Victoria Symone, Taylor Lewis, Kalina Lewis, Desire Jackson and Ebony Jackson, both of Lilburn, Ga.; one great-grandson, Rodney Jackson Jr. of Lilburn, Ga.; one aunt, Rosamary Davis of Bay Minette; one brother-in-law, Alfred (Norma) Lewis Williams of Tupelo, Ga.; four sisters-in-law, Helen Lewis of Brewton, Lula (Frank) Shockley of Vancleave, Miss., Pollie Rosemore of Pensacola, Fla. and Dollie (Robert Earl) Binion of Brewton; two goddaughters, Paula Jackson and Minnie Hubbard; two special friends, Marie Barton and Carrie Jackson; several other devoted friends and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Lawrence Earl ‘Red’ Nelson

Brewton

 

Lawrence Earl “Red” Nelson, 69, of Old Hwy. 31 Brewton, passed away Wed., Dec. 2, 2015, after injuries sustained in a automobile accident.

Funeral services were held Sun., Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Elder Barry Wayne Ellis officiating. Interment followed in Green Acres Cemetery Brewton with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He was a member of the Brewton RLDS Church and a retired self employed painter.

He is survived by his best friend, Shirley Croft of Brewton; a daughter, Jessica Renee Nelson of Tennessee; two brothers, Thomas Mack (Katie) Nelson of Brewton and Dewitt Nelson of Huntsville; and two sisters, Ruby Gean Davis of Gonzalez, Fla.. and Betty Sue Horton of Jay, Fla.

Cosper Allen Scott

Smyrna, Ga.

 

Cosper Allen Scott, 83, of Smyrna, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wed., Dec. 2, 2015, at the Margaret Dozier Big Bend Hospice House in Tallahassee, Fla.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Wed., Dec. 9, at Cedar Hill Baptist Church, 1508 Daily St. in East Brewton.  Burial will follow in Ft. Crawford Cemetery, East Brewton, with military honors accorded at graveside. Family visitation will begin at 1 p.m. prior to the memorial service.  A celebration of life service will also be held in Port St. Joe, Fla.,  and will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: First Baptist Church, Chipley, Fla., Attn: Building Fund, 1300 South Blvd., Chipley, Fla.  32428, in his memory.

Born Jan. 6, 1932, in Brewton, to Stella and C.A. Scott, he served in the Air Force and was a lifelong educator, teacher and administrator. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Air Force he earned his bachelor’s degree from Troy State Teachers College.

He later earned his master’s degree in education administration from Auburn University. He served as principal in many places but none more impactful as in Port St. Joe, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife Betty Murphy Scott; his brothers Thomas and Frank Scott; and sister Clara Miller.

He is survived by his sons, Mike (Cindy) of Panama City, Fla., Mark of Port St. Joe, and Brent (Sandra) of Tallahassee; and seven granddaughters Katie, Kaitlyn, Alex, Slayton, Shelby, Holly and Olivia Scott.

James ‘Jim’ Hartley Lambeth

Jay, Fla.

 

James “Jim” Hartley Lambeth, 93, of Florida Avenue in Jay, Fla., passed away Fri., Dec. 4, 2015 in a Jay, Fla. nursing facility after a brief illness.

Funeral services were held Mon.. Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Interment followed in Catawba Springs Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native and former resident of Pollard, before moving to Jay, three years ago. He was a member of the Catawba Springs Baptist Church and attended McCall School. He was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran with 21 years of service. He was a retired self employed automobile mechanic.

He is survived by three sons, Glenn (Liz) Lambeth of Stockton, Malcolm Fox (Nan Lewis) of Flint, Wales, and Steve (Gail) Lambeth of Birmingham; three daughters, Evelyn (Glenn) McFadden of Brewton, Betty Ann (Johnny) Folsom of Tifton, Ga.. and Doreen (Rick) Freeman of Henager, Ala.;  daughters-in-law, Betty Wong Lambeth of Union Grove, Ken., Lynn Lambeth, Jane Lambeth and Myone Wedlin; a brother. Charles C. Lambeth of Flomaton; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Patricia Ford Lambeth; and a son, Leon Terral Lambeth.

Drewey Clifton

Drewey Clifton, 75, of Hwy. 41 Brewton, passed away Sun., Dec. 6, 2015 in a Brewton medical facility after a brief illness.

Visitation will be held today, Wed., Dec. 9, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Brewton.

Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at Willliams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Hanberry Cemetery near Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was a native and life long resident of Brewton. He attended Oak Grove Holiness Church, was a 1959 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, and a retired machinist from Brewton Iron Works. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Johnson Clifton of Brewton; a son, Daniel (Connie) Clifton of Brewton; two daughters. Melissa (Anthony) Boutwell of Flomaton and Regina Clifton of Brewton; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eubie and Dellie Morris Clifton; two brothers, Clifford Clifton and Leroy Clifton; and a sister, Madie Madden.
